Rogers limiting VPN traffic to 200kbs?

I got this from the SecureIX board, and it seems to go along with the speeds I've been getting from my vpn.

Well I have heard through some friends I know who may or may not work or may or may not know someone who works in rogers support and apparantely they now cap all VPN traffic, to ALL vpn sites, at 200k.... so, there you have it. and I can confirm this as prior to the cap being placed on free account here at secureix.com, that i would top out at 200k along w/ many others I know who have rogers...

Nope. I can get about 5Mbps from my VPN. That's not to say it hasn't been a bit flakey of late. Not ready to blame Rogers for that yet though.

SecureIX has a bandwidth limit now.

The bandwidth limit on premium is 625. Many users on the SIX boards are reporting the same problem. Upload is fine, download 200-250 max.

Rogers is only playing with the upload traffic,
you can download fine using a VPN connection,
but upload is very very limited, not as bad
when using BitTorrent on a normal connection,
but for sure the upload on a VPN is capped now.

Time to start hiding data inside other protocols as image or sound data, or MS Word documents. Alot of people will be pissed when AIM Direct IM stops working, or they cant download images, or send webmail, or Skype is dead.

download speeds using vpn were 160 max for download last night ( not great) and 40 upload ( not bad, near max)

For some reason I can barely get over 30 kb/s download when using SIX? My upload speeds are normal, seems like its better to just download without SIX. Any suggestions or tips?

Speedysmurf, kindly smurf some of the other smurfy threads in this super smurfy forum where you can smurf that SIX is limiting non-paying clients to 50kbps now which isn't very smurfy, but what can you do ... they had to pay the bandwidth bills somehow.

Re: Rogers limiting VPN traffic to 200kbs?

i did go through some threads and noticed that there are caps, but never saw any specific numbers quoted. Thanks for the smurfy reply. So those getting over 50kb/s are all paying VPN users?
