Unwanted/improper images/files in IMs is one of the biggest reasons that "feature" was removed.
Post your images/files elsewhere, and link to them if necessary... better yet, e-mail them!

PMs should be short and to the point. If you have an image, send me the link and I can decide for myself whether to look at it. -- AT&T dsl; Westell 2200 modem/router; SuSE 10.1; firefox 1.5.0.10 | |

| Re: Addiing Jpgs to PMs (AGAIN) said by nwrickert :*object* PMs should be short and to the point. If you have an image, send me the link and I can decide for myself whether to look at it. Why should PMs be "short"? I love to sometimes write long PMs and my friends and I communicate at this site, and other sites, via the PM system at the site rather than use email. We use email mostly for images and attachments. I don't even have an email address for most folks. Email has too many problems plus my ISP just loves to arbitrarily block email.
I don't use any form of "instant" messaging rather I use the PM system at the sites where I spend my time. I gather you think the PM system is only for helping someone solve a computer problem? PMs are also used for social chat and to say the things that one would not post in a thread (and I don't mean nasty things...just information that should not be publicly posted but can be privately communicated).

| Re: Addiing Jpgs to PMs (AGAIN) not to belabor the point, but I think it kind of funny that you write a post that is longer than most others, seem to be supporting my point of view, and then object?????

| Re: Addiing Jpgs to PMs (AGAIN) I didn't mean the post to be confusing. Sorry. I did say that I use email with my friends for pictures and attachments. I think PM here is fine as is (except for one glaring problem that has been begged for here over and over...preview should not be on another page so that when you see errors you have to keep going back and forth from the PM page to the preview page which is a hassle and with all the great stuff here it is a mystery why that has not been fixed too). -- "If you want to do DRM on a PC then you need to treat the user as the enemy." If images were allowed, a *crafty* person could insert a image from a server and just wait untill the person viewed the image...IP found, person located.
Not very safe eh ? It's a tool that can be used incorrectly if placed in the wrong hands.
Another issue is the old "hide the file in the strangely oversized .jpg" trick. Warez monkeys used to use this method to trade/share files all the time.
Not exactly legally prudent eh ? Someones getting a nasty email from a legal office.
Rammifications and implications.
