| Animation Tutorial
Seeing that a few people have asked me how you put a static picture over a animated one, I figure I would make a tutorial. This is for Paint Shop Pro 7 with Animation Shop 3, so it will be different for other Programs.

First I took an image of our forum host and took out all the background.

Then I made 8 duplicates of sooty in Animation Shop, because the animated flag has 8 frames. To get the images of sooty in to the animated flag, with the images of sooty active, go to Edit/Select All. Right click over the images of sooty and select Copy. Next, with the images of the flag active, go to Edit/Select All.

Now paste the images of sooty in to the flag as shown above and crop to the right size if need be.

This is what I got once I did some fine tuning with contrast, but that is more to do with your taste. This is a simple explanation, but hopefully it will help you with the concept.

BTW.. just a quick question. How do you place sooty in each frame in the exact same position each time? I have found that in the animation shop, there are no grid references to guide you.
I usually do all my pasting in PSP using the grid references on the bottom left of the window and then copy it to the animation shop (or load it in as a file).
I think I am missing something.
The reason I am asking is that say sooty is smaller and is to be placed in the center of the flag. Keeping sooty exactly centered is difficult without grid points.. if you see what I mean? A single pixel out, and it is visible in the final animation.
Sorry about the question.. I am inquisitive -- "I think I've had ti many Martooni's.." - James Garner |

I'm sorry I didn't make that clearer, but when you do the Select All then paste in to all as my tutorial says, it automatically puts each image in the same place in each frame.
