| Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door
I just finished watching the Cowboy Bebop moving "Knockin' On Heaven's Door". If you like the series, you're going to absolutely LOVE this movie. The animation is beautiful, the soundtrack is stellar and the story is fantastic... I'll be watching this one again and again. I downloaded it via Morpheus, its a pretty hefty file weighing in at around 576MB, but its well worth it. As soon as I can get this on DVD (the japanese version of the website seems to show a January 25, 2002 release date, I hope for the same or not to long after in the states) it'll be mine!
Its late now and I'm too sleepy to go into detail. I'll come back tomorrow and put up a mini-review. In the meantime, get your asses in gear and get your hands on this movie (put that broadband to good use)! I guarantee, you won't regret it! You can also go here to learn more about the movie and watch the trailer.
I'll be back with more non-spoiler detail about the movie tomorrow. -- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level then beat you with experience. [text was edited by author 2001-11-19 00:24:14] |

| reply to bassthumpa There are now rumors that Bandai has secured the rights to the movie as well, but its just a rumor for now (a Bandai CSR was the source of the rumor, but the rest of Bandai isn't commenting). Since the movie involves biological terrorism, I really hope that they don't butcher it because of recent events.
Sorry I never got back to reviewing the movie, but it was too tempting to just give the whole damned thing away. Hopefully it'll be released in the U.S. and you all can see for yourselves (or if you wanna cheat, download the subbed version). -- Never argue with an idiot. I am not passing judgement on you and your proposed practices. I will not say that I agree or disagree with them. Downloading these movies with file sharing utilities may be illegal. I emphasize may because I do not know which ones are illegal to share and which ones are legal to share if any at all. At any rate, warez, and the otherwise illegal acquisition of materials, should not become the topic of this thread -- You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else. - Tyler Durden (Fight Club)

| reply to bassthumpa I'm all for supporting companies that bring anime to america (my DVD collection is 50+ and growing). But they take so damn long to do it that fansubbers usually get the newest titles out to the hardcore fans first. As long as no american company has licensed a certain title, you can have the fansubed version for personal use. If anything, fansubbing actually increases domestic sales of anime because IMHO it is the best form of promotion. |

| I just watched the subbed version that I downloaded, and I will definately be buying this on DVD when it comes out. I agree that there are some real grey areas in the legalities and ethics of "sharing" but I don't think that it changes who will purchase and who will not. Those who don't pay, will never pay. Those of us who do, will continue to do so.
And on the topic of purchase, does anyone know if the soundtrack is available? The music was great! |
