clubs: | Wouldn't 500ms be 1/2 a second? Also, when talking about ping times, that is round trip.

In a trace route, each hop is a ping to that host. So if you have a trace route, with 10 hops, and each ping is 10, you don't have a total latency of 100 to the last host.
