You don't add up each hop, to get your total latency. In a trace route, each hop is a ping to that host. So if you have a trace route, with 10 hops, and each ping is 10, you don't have a total latency of 100 to the last host. Did I say that clearly? Hmmm -- Give me bandwidth or give me death!
