Two days after the migration to roadrunner from adelphia my internet connection is now fully functional. Only difference is that both Download and Upload is now slower. My typical download speed using Adelpia was 4700Kbs now is 2900Kbs. Upload was 460Kbs is now 360Kbs. I hope this improves but after talking to tech support I'm not confident.

I migrated from Adelphia. Sometime since I last checked my speeds (maybe 2 weeks) the speed jumped from 5800 to over 9100 downstream and 720 to 970 upstream. A nice jump in performance. Now I am better off than I ever was with Adelphia (max 6800 downstream)

I live in Amherst near Blvd. Mall and my speeds have decreased also. Before the migration I was at 4600Kbs up and 460Kbs down. Now I am at 3900Kbs up and 360Kbs down. I wonder if this is permanent.

I am in NT...poor speeds for about 5 days but I have had service all along. I was very pleased with Adelphia's HSI. I tried them for the first time in Erie county around 1999. They were just going to two way service in the area. It was horrifying. I switched to dsl when it was available soon after that and was very satisfied.

I have been in this house for over 3 years now. Cannot get dsl here so I was concerned when I signed up for Adelphia's service. To my delight it was a great 3+ years. I hope once this migration is over things will get back to normal.

Notice in the speed pic I am based in Nebraska. ) I call support but was only given generic answers. I am patient so hopefully it will be straightened out soon.

Before all of this I was getting the following
up - 880 - 900 (roughly 105 - 110 kbytes upload)
Down - 6 megs

After the migration and after speaking with technical support the upload has been lowered.

It is now set at 768 instead of the 923 or so it was with adelphia.

My speed tests reflect this too, I am now getting around 700 kbits upload or 75 kbytes .

All i want is upload speed. I can not wait till fios comes in my area, I will switch in a heart beat and I hope everyone does.

The reasons for the speed "drop" have been well-documented here previously. Basically, Adelphia had a 10% "overhead" in their modem provisioning meaning that speed tests would show as more than the advertised speed. TW do not include this overhead in their provisioning (in line with their existing properties) and as such, speed tests will generally be at, or slightly under, the advertised speed.

niagara_man

@rr.com

Yes but adelphia was prov at 923 k. Which when I uploaded to the internet I would get 110 kbytes. Now I get 75kbytes. Thats a drop of 35 kbytes a sec. OR 2.1 megs a min or
126 megs an hr. That is a drop no matter what the over head was. They should have left it alone.

AND THE Reason why adelphia was high. They advertised 768k upload speeds. They prov at 900 so people would see the speeds that were advertised. TW must like saying you get 768 but really you get 700 in RL.

And what you just stated " Hey Aaron, you still at adelphia/TW?

Do you know whats going on with the speeds for the Prem account?

I called today and they pushed it to billing and now I get 600k and 4 meg. Before this I was getting 880-900 k and 6 megs.

"

Is totally crap.

Like the post a sec ago I FTP not speed tests, and I always seen around 850 or so.

So its not " Showing more than advertised " ITS SHOWING MORE BECAUSE IT HAS A HIGHER PROV SET .

Find someone who still has a copy of the old modem file and opening in the docsis tools. You will see what the speeds are set at.

So i hate to break you bubble with facts!

Yeah I had that REALLY low speed- the 240/240 up/down because of the wrong file on my modem.

I JUST got off the phone with a "level 3" tech - that's what he said anyway- and he gave me the correct file.

Now I am getting about 5,xxx, 2xx. down/up.

I am on the PREMIUM tier too. He said to wait a couple of days because they are still having some problem s and the speeds will improve. He said the file on the modem was 6000/768, but I am not seeing anywhere near that upload speed.

I also gave him the addresses of a couple routers/hops (or whatever they are) dropping packets.

--------------------------------------------- % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last |

He said this one was normal, it drops half of the packets no matter what-
--------ten2-1-1-buffnylkw-pe01.nyroc.rr.com - 508 | 4 | 0 | 47 | 125 | 47 |

But he said he would look at this one-
---------rdc-24-24-7-229.nyroc.rr.com -------- 13 | 8 | 7 | 31 | 31 | 32 | 32 |

He was also aware of that level3 problem, where they connect to the backbone.. He's said they are working on that too.

----------ae-4-4.ebr1.Washington1.Level3.net - 15 | 7 | 6 | 47 | 70 | 94 | 78 |

I'm just going to wait a couple days like he said, and then start calling back to see what's going on if it is still really slow.

Here's that entire Tracert- can anyone else get to »www.bhmotorsports.com ? I cannot seem too.

You should use proper english first. Then maybe people can understand what you are actually saying.

TWC provsions their modem's with less overhead than Adelphia did. TWC also has more subscribers than Adelphia did. TWC is also the one still in business, so they are obviously doing something right.

Your whole "35KB a sec..." nonsense was just really pathetic. Do you max out your connection 24/7/365? No. So you won't lose that speed anyway, because your not even using it.

I don't understand your complaints. You lost a very small portion of speed. 100kb is nothing. Your file now takes 3 seconds longer to upload. I just don't understand why everyone is so pissed about it.

You can migrate hundreds of thousands of users in a single day and expect it to go 100% as planned?

Why aren't you working for TWC then. Maybe they wouldn't have had the problem if you were working for them!

Re: Migrated from Adelphia, no speed?

Premier here also.. Ken-Ton area.

Looks like everyone is capped in the 360~ upload range.. it should be in the 400's minimum.. or what's the sense in paying $11/mo extra?

The last tech I talked to said to leave everything alone, relax, and everything will be alright in a short while. This was Monday night.. what a joker.. LMAO!

LoL @ these TW Defenders on this board praising the lower speeds they are getting. "Oh! I absolutely love it that I don't have that extra overhead like adelphia gave!" Shutup. Seriously.

TW has just put a sour taste in the vast majority of their new customers mouthes. They are pretty lucky FIOS isn't going to be widely available for another 2 years probably.

I'm in Amherst and I'm getting the 240/240 on premier too. When I talked to them they never even checked my modem file. They just said they knew there was a problem in the area and they were working on it. Guess I should call ............. again.
