Re: ActionTec Router & Linksys WRT54G?

I gotta be honest man, I can't stand using the garbage WRT's anymore. I've got the big Actiontec mounted on our wall interfaced to a gigabit switch, and if memory serves me correctly it's been working fine for about 2 months non stop.

I run an internet radio station, and the automation and our live show streams 24/7 from the house.

I've got an FTP server setup, RDP port forwards, and QOS setup for our Vonage.

I've had CONSTANT problems with different revisions of the WRT and openWRT even dd-wrt and the likes. I've been far impressed with the ease of use and information that the actiontec interface (Verizon Firmware Updated) provide.

I hate the actiontec because of the wireless range, it's just terrible. Also the interface is quite jumbled. I like the standard linksys wrtg54 interface. When I get home, I just want to put it first and practically get rid of the actiontec for serving up the internet. I just need to know if I can follow the steps in that other thread verbatim for putting the linksys first.

I find myself saying the same thing about the Actiontec. The web interface is rubbish ("WARNING: LOOKING AT THIS PAGE MAY AFFECT PERFORMANCE, PROCEED?"), tiny NAT table (affects P2P performance), lack of WPA2, etc. I thought that the free VDI-604 units (before the Actiontecs became standard equipment) were superior to this huge steaming pile of poop.

To each their own, I suppose. My little WRT54Gv2's been good to me for over two (three?) years now, from stock firmware to HyperWRT to DD-WRT to Tomato.

Edit: looking over my previous post in this thread, I have no bloody clue why I posted a link to that thread.

So, can I use the instructions from that large thread to put a linksys first instead of the actiontec first?

Hehe, thanks. Didn't mean to sound repetitive.
