My thoughts exactly. Everybody who was using a 56k modem (if that) 10 years ago, raise your hand...

Hell I remember when I jumped from 300 baud to 1200 baud.... and then later 2400 baud. Now that was impressive

2400 baud on a C-64 actually was pretty damn good

100mbps widely dispersed to the population would allow you to do all the things on the internet that you just can't do now. Multiple HD streams to multiple PC's in single households, Centralized data storage, and application loading, truly integrated communications networks so you can answer your cell phone on your TV, and unlock your front door from your car. Single points of contact, so if you want to call someone the network finds them and routes the call correctly. Appliances that can reorder supplies, or update your grocery lists while your shopping as your kids eat your food. Wouldn't it be great if everytime someone rang your doorbell or opened your door you could have a live feed sent to your TV or cell phone to see who is entering or exiting your house? Utility control so thermostats automatically adjust based on your location, and lights turn on and off when needed. How much closer towards energy independence could we be if the majority of people didn't have their furnace's/ACs blasting away when they're at work, or out to eat, or out at all?

"Who needs 100mbps" is frankly an ignorant question.

I agree. I didn't say that, someone else did. For me the old WW1 Airman phrase "Speed is Life" sums up my opinion. More speed = more opportunities and options.

However I believe that even if they grant the speeds they will use the TOS as a tool to bludgeon people from being able to do anything too useful. (Such as host your own business.)

This is all speculation and hype. Comcast only knows one thing and that is to raise your rates and not deliver anything for the rate hike. Their infrastucture is old and in disrepair in my locale and they have no intention in the near future to revitalize it because they have a lock on the franchise. In order to utiize this new technology,Comcast and the other ISP's will have to provide consistent, reliable service which in my case has been a mere pipe dream. the Internet service providers are infected with unethical business practices, inept technical support, lack of responsibility, lack of real customer service by rude and careless staff.
