| [Info] Planning trip to Disney.
I was wondering if any of you nice people in Florida would be kind enough and help me out.
My husband and I would like to take our 6 year-old daughter to Disney (Spring '08) and I have never been there. My husband was there many moons ago, so his info is really outdated.
I need ideas on where to stay and what to see while there. I sent away for a Disney vacation pack, but wanted to know if anyone could offer me any first hand experience.

| If your husband is or was in the military, check out Shades of Green. It's a resort of military folks on the Disney grounds.
Otherwise, any resort on Disney Grounds is great to stay in -- depending the price you're willing to pay. A great thing about being in a resort on the grounds is that transportation to and from any of the Walt Disney Parks is very easy -- and depending on the resort, there are a few ways to get to each park (train, bus, boat, etc).
If you are trying to save $$ (who isn't?) you can always look for hotels off the grounds. We stayed at a Holiday Inn not too far from the resort for $54/night. Since we're only there to sleep, it wasn't that bad. There was also a bus from the hotel to the parks. Some of my friends go to hotels in Kissimmee and drive to the parks (Kissimmee isn't too far from Orlando and often cheaper).
Also, the tickets are normally cheaper at the resort or hotel you are staying (if they sell them).
As far as what to see, since she is 6 years old now, she'll be like 7-8 yrs old then? I would take her to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Magic Kingdom because while they have rides for adults (Haunted House, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain), they have many rides for kids and adults that aren't too scary or too fast for them. Animal Kingdom has great rides but tons of animals that she can see up close. Otherwise, if not Animal Kingdom, go to Epcot. But she may get bored there.
All in all, going to DisneyWorld really makes you feel like a kid!

It depends on whether or not you are looking for the budget trip to Disney or the all out trip to Disney. If you do the budget trip there are plenty of good hotels near Disney that are not very expensive at all ($50/night.) If you are doing the all out then I would advise that you stay at the place with the animals. Very cool for the kids.

| I tried the park hopper pass (that was valid for a day) and found I just felt rushed. I would plan for only one park per day. I don't know if there is a park hopper that goes beyond a day or not.
Most of them easily have a whole days worth of stuff to do. |

You will want to rent a room at kissimee, FL and usually you can find a some nice clean hotel rooms for about 29.99 a night.
Disney is within a few miles from that area. You will want to eat before you go because a freaking hot dog is like 5 dollars once your inside. There are many things to see but it all depends on personal preference. You will find out what to do by the hotel stand with all the little pamphlets available.
Those will contain information on attractions and prices and the hotel can help you out as most of them are well knowledgeable in regards to the big attractions and pricing.
Best advice I can give you is simply use each day for each specific park, that way you can enjoy the entire park without having to worry about rushing to the next one in a few hours. Although there is a lot to see it's best to take things nice and slow and save it up for next time.
Of course if you want the best experience possible it will come at a price and although much more convenient I really think you will enjoy yourselves more by going at your own pace and finding things to do than going on some tour services.
I have been to Disney twice, when I was a kid that I don't remember anything and again for my little brother when he was around your daughters age.
Travel light in the parks because Florida is hot and steamy and usually you end up leaving with plenty of stuff.
Just remember you are there to have a good time, don't plan too much because that usually ruins it because you don't want to mix the next show or something and before you know it everyone is exhausted and just wants to go back to the hotel.
