Nice find, thanks!

For most users, this fits the bill quite nicely (I'm using ABS 7) and is an excellent alternative to Nero, especially if you don't have any use for a lot of the extra "fluff" that multi-hundred megabyte "suites" such as Nero or Roxio contain. Hard to beat for the price, too!
Just a side note, when you do register for your free key, you will receive almost daily offerings (spam) from Ashampoo... They don't share your e-mail addy, though, and you can always unsubscribe if you want to. From what I hear, they do honor your request to do so.

Thanks for the heads up on this tomami See Profile

I've actually got both past 'special free offers' of Burning Studio. (Version 5, and version '2007').

I ended up sticking with v5, because if I remember correctly, each version had one feature the other didn't.
It works great btw.

I'm wondering now what's different in v6.5 compared to v5 and v2007?

Oh well, I downloaded it anyway and put it in my "Ashampoo folder".....maybe I'll check it out some time soon before the offer expires.
Thanks again.

Looks like your version has a couple of extra features.

I may have to 'upgrade' my free v5 after all.

Thanks again for the screenshot.

A better logo, at least.
I hate the one on v. 7 (2007).

*And thanks for the info, tomami See Profile!

And a reminder to all (*Edit- as I see now howie See Profile already mentioned)-- you may want to consider giving Ashampoo a secondary or throw-away email address-- they will spam you unmercifully.
Nice software, though!

Ashampoo Burning Studio 6 appears to be a program that is on par with Nero and Roxio. Why would Ashampoo give this program away for free? What gives?

Nice software, though!
What better way to get you to upgrade to a newer version, than to give you an older version for free?
Especially when it's a great program.

Amazingly (maybe I'm just lucky), even though I did get my share of spam the first time I registered Ashampoo, after opting out, I never heard from them again.

Heck, I didn't even receive the recent email (another thread), about the other programs they were giving away a week or so ago!

Ashampoo Burning Studio is excellent software. I still have Nero installed on my PC, but it doesn't get used much since I switched over to ABC several releases ago.

Have found their marketing to be a little bit unpredictable, and you may very well see see software that you paid $19.95 for one week being offered for free in a couple of months.

I took the plunge.

Uninstalled all remnants of v5, installed v6.5, entered my key, and all is well!

(I'd post a screenshot, but you'd think I just copied it from Weirdal See Profile )

fwiw, when I log-in to the site, they have a record of all my free version Keys (v5, v2007, and now v6.5).

Concerning the 'spam', even the email I received for my key had about 17 other 'great offers' I shouldn't refuse.

But they like me....once I tell them I don't want any more email, I'll never hear from them again. (Well, until version 7 is offered for free down the road a piece...and even then, I'll probably have to hear about in the software forum, rather than via 'spam').

I'll go along with that...however

getting a quality for free is definitely nice, but in my past experiences there is usually a catch (adware, (spam-apparently the case with ashampoo), malware, or just plan old crapware)

In the past couple of weeks or so I have seen where Ashampoo has offered several full version free program that some of you more experienced users seem to be pretty excited about. I like a good deal as much as anyone else, but I also hate removing stinker software, so I am just doing my homework before I bite the hook.

Nothing wrong with doing your homework.
Those 'Five Free' programs I downloaded, but have yet to install, and probably won't install most or all of them. Either they do something I don't care about, or already have something doing the job that I'm satisfied with.

I don't mind them spamming me (other than the general principle of not liking spam) because I never see it. It goes to an account I only check once every two or three weeks, and was opened for this very purpose.

As far as the programs being 'crapware' or 'stinkerware', that simply depends upon your particular need for what a program might do.
My experience has been that Ashampoo makes fine products. YMMV.

I'm jumping all over this Burning Studio 6.5 offer.

I downloaded this and when I go to install it I get a warning message that says that the publisher could not be verified and that there is no valid digital signature.

Is it ok to continue the install?
