| My connection spikes at random times in the day during games
When I play xbox360 or when I play video games on my computer my connection spikes. I get large amounts of lag in each game and this is when i even connect to games in NY.
I changed every ethernet cable in the connection...restarted the modems countless amounts of times and even changed the modem itself! I am connected to a Linksys router.
someone please help me it has been doing this for about a month. i cannot even finish whole games any more.

| i play RTCW:ET and my ping jumps from 50ms avg to most servers to 250-300ms. my speed also goes to 2mbit/1mbit during these times - most common in the evening to nighttime. i'm in roslyn (11576)

everyone on OOL that i know has the same problem and it started when they upgraded boost to 5 mb upload. my friends in NY, NJ and CT have the same problem and it doesnt seem like its getting fixed anytime soon. |

| its not him i get that same problem that he does along with a few of my friends that game in all areas that have OOL so its OOL just being crappy. OOL is not good at all and i thought they were getting better from the old 10/1 days when they sucked really bad with oversold nodes and then we got the upgrades and it got a bit better and now that more people are getting it its back to the shitty times again for everyone i know.
OOL SUCKS !!! get verizon fios when you can and all your problems with OOL will go away. |

Here is my line quality test. i finished changing everything...my friend said that it could be that I have a bad router...but my router only has 1 connection which is connected to a hub...could the hub be what is giving me problems?
it goes like this
Router>>Hub>>computer&xbox.

Tell us what brand/model that piece of equipment is, please?
If the "lag spikes" happen to coincide with someone using the computer to access the internet while you're gaming, there is a reasonable possibility that this is your problem.
And by the way - line quality tests don't get much better than that.

Im using a WRT54G Linksys router with a motorola surfboard cable modem.
Only I am using the computer at the moment adn i am downloadin g nothing.
BUT the reason why i dont think it is the computer is becasue it is a recent thing, happening only 2 months ago, AND this also happens when i play Battlefield 2142 on the comptuer with the xbox off. |
