Oh Boy, ads are now here on ATT/Yahoo

Yeah, thats not intrustive at all
I'm going to have to say, is this a joke? I'm perfectly fine with ads, but not of this enormous size. I'm completely appalled.

What annoys me is that I pay for DSL with email access. Why should I have to view ads on the mail site from AT&T?

Same reason you get ads on cable channels...

Yahoo's webmail sucks rocks anyway. Use a POP3 client instead.

SPAM SPAM and more SPAM from AT&T Yahoo

I just spent an hour on the phone with customer support and tech support. I AM BEING SPAMMED BY AT&T

The DSL package hasn't changed... it is still includes Premium Yahoo email service that I pay for. A premium service that is SPAM free - until today

I have had DSL for many years - been very happy - but I will not accept advertising/SPAM on a service I pay for. No if buts or ands about it!!!

If AT&T has lowballed the price of DSL to the point it does not cover costs (and we know they have) than it seems as a business decision they should increase costs to at a minimum break even.

I am being SPAMMED by AT&T... there is no other term for it.

Someone show me the change to my agreement that says you will now be receiving advertisements/SPAM from us... and oh yeah you are paying us for that SPAM to be annoying delivered on your Homepage and email

Do I sound upset?? You bet...I don't take SPAM lightly

If AT&T Yahoo doesn't roll back to the previous version of email service I'll be placing a call to Clear Sky

Will I pay more money? You bet... gladly not to receive advertising

AT&T - did you hear that... I will gladly pay more for no advertising.... so why don't you charge me more and for those unwilling to pay more... you can SPAM them!!!

I am so angry I think steam must be coming out of my ears

Why even use their email services. Although I agree that they should not spam us.
Gmail and POP access work fine

Re: Oh Boy, ads are now here

Actually the beta Yahoo email is very good - I no longer use POP3 clients for several reasons

1 - I can access my email anywhere without having to lug my laptop with me

2 - I receive all my email and feeds in one place

3 - Not downloading email to my system means less chance of getting a virus that my virus detector might miss

4 - I can use someone elses' infinite storage facilities

So - why should I forgo the premium webmail service that is included with my AT&T DSL to get rid of the SPAM??

For me, the Yahoo! mail beta is bloated, slow and unreliable. And now it has ads.

Enough for me to avoid it. Even Netzero's freebie service is not this bad.

Not that I like the idea of ads, but...

See the screen shot. The landlady pays a subscription for that newspaper! Ads? Oh, the horror!

The reason I use the webmail is because then I dont have to deal with outlook/thunderbird/etc. While these solutions were once superior in everyway to webmail, they are now 'on-par'. (Besides this ad bullshit)

When I use the webmail I don't have to physically download whatever e-mail's to my own computer. The webmail system blocks all images for me. The webmail system doesn't have any extra bloat that even outlook express has. Etc..

Also don't have to deal with the seemingly random pop3/smtp access issues that users here complain about occassionally.

I haven't tried the yahoo mail beta, but the current version I'm just fine with. (Besides bullshit ads now). I'm the kind of person that keeps their computer ultra-clean, so if I can go by without installing outlook or thunderbird, I will do just that.

As for using gmail or any other number of online services. Why? I don't want gmail. I want the system that I allready have that works just fine.

Spam? The spamguard (at least for me) works excellent. It rarely catches something it shouldn't, and only once in a great while will I get the penile enlargement mail in my inbox. And that fake-address type system with the yahoo mail is wonderful. I can create a new address to use on various sign-up forms on sites, so my real one doesn't get spammed.

I love the system, but this ad nonsense is unreal. I'm perfectly fine with those little ads on the left-side there, but that big piece of shit that takes up 1/4 of my 1440*900 display is a goddamned joke.

Re: Oh Boy, ads are now here

I have never used an adblocker... because I believe sites I visit that I am not paying for deserve to get advertising revenue

My apologies to all those sites - because I have now installed the Firefox extension AdBlockPlus

ByeBye annoying right bar nasty ads

I also called ClearSky for a quote - I can't get higher speed with DSL - too far from the CO.... I would be more than willing to pay the current $35 per month for the highest DSL speeds. So, I know ClearSky will be higher... it just depends on preceived value for the increased cost

So, instead of adding revenue to the AT&T coffers the ad business may have just pushed me to another provider

BTW, if you are using Firefox I highly recommend the AdBlockPlus extension. It won't do anything with the left bar ads - but those aren't as objectionable

And to the silly analogy of newspaper ads... yep thats one of the reasons I don't get a newspaper - not to mention the fact the news is already stale by the time it reaches me.

Probably hasn't been implemented on the yahoo mail beta yet.

Several people above posted that it was showing on the Beta now, I'm not seeing it.

Actually, you dont pay for cable channels, you pay for access to cable channels. In regards to this, you ARE paying for internet access and a mail ACCOUNT - you should not be served ads on something you directly pay for. And def not served ads when a 'no-ad' solution is not available.

Of course, why is everyone still using ISP centric email accounts? Especially when there are better email accounts available for free.

I pay for access to the Internet too; I do not pay for the Internet. Same thing.
