| Re: Oh Boy, ads are now here Actually the beta Yahoo email is very good - I no longer use POP3 clients for several reasons
1 - I can access my email anywhere without having to lug my laptop with me
2 - I receive all my email and feeds in one place
3 - Not downloading email to my system means less chance of getting a virus that my virus detector might miss
4 - I can use someone elses' infinite storage facilities
So - why should I forgo the premium webmail service that is included with my AT&T DSL to get rid of the SPAM??

Enough for me to avoid it. Even Netzero's freebie service is not this bad. -- Toolmaster of La Grange.

Actually, you dont pay for cable channels, you pay for access to cable channels. In regards to this, you ARE paying for internet access and a mail ACCOUNT - you should not be served ads on something you directly pay for. And def not served ads when a 'no-ad' solution is not available.
Of course, why is everyone still using ISP centric email accounts? Especially when there are better email accounts available for free.

| My email to abuse@sbcglobal.net received the following response
Thank you for contacting AT&T Internet Abuse.
We apologize for the inconvenience. The advertising is a needed step towards providing world class service at an affordable price.
AT&T Yahoo! now offers an ad-free Business Email service. For more information, please see
»smallbusiness.att.yahoo.com/email/
Thank you,
The AT&T Internet Abuse Department

I am more than willing to pay an additional $34.95 per year to help AT&T recoup the cost of DSL....I am not willing to be forced to purchase a useless, poorly designed email package with a domain name I do not need, to get AT&T to stop SPAMMING me
So, adblockplus works just fine - and will stay in place. If ClearSky is a viable option AT&T has lost a formerly happy customer
As to the Morris stale news comment... I get my news off the internet... doesnt matter if I'm in Morris or Iraq - CNN FOXNews, AP and Reuters serve the same content at the same time

The Morris comment was a joke.
Anyway, I'm sure AT&T is not going to shed a tear over you leaving. Unfortunately, that's the way the game is played at big corporations these days.

Hey, I know for a fact that CNN, Fox, AP, and Reuters all delay the news by three - four hours if the IP shows that it's from Morris. Vindictive bastards!

The advertising is a needed step towards providing world class service at an affordable price. This cracks me up. I have yet to receive 'world class service' from anyone claiming world class service. Heck, some internal groups at work claim 'world class service' and they dont.
The only time I have received 'world class service' is from a place/buisness that did not claim such standards.

| SPAM SPAM and more SPAM from AT&T Yahoo I just spent an hour on the phone with customer support and tech support. I AM BEING SPAMMED BY AT&T
The DSL package hasn't changed... it is still includes Premium Yahoo email service that I pay for. A premium service that is SPAM free - until today
I have had DSL for many years - been very happy - but I will not accept advertising/SPAM on a service I pay for. No if buts or ands about it!!!
If AT&T has lowballed the price of DSL to the point it does not cover costs (and we know they have) than it seems as a business decision they should increase costs to at a minimum break even.
I am being SPAMMED by AT&T... there is no other term for it.
Someone show me the change to my agreement that says you will now be receiving advertisements/SPAM from us... and oh yeah you are paying us for that SPAM to be annoying delivered on your Homepage and email
Do I sound upset?? You bet...I don't take SPAM lightly
If AT&T Yahoo doesn't roll back to the previous version of email service I'll be placing a call to Clear Sky
Will I pay more money? You bet... gladly not to receive advertising
AT&T - did you hear that... I will gladly pay more for no advertising.... so why don't you charge me more and for those unwilling to pay more... you can SPAM them!!!
I am so angry I think steam must be coming out of my ears

| I would think that an ISP doesn't really have to provide webmail access. They provide your email account(s) and access to the mail servers through a suggested email client. It has just been sort of a value-added service until recently. They've decided to try to recoup some of the cost of running a webmail system with features that users have come to expect. IF they gave you an option, would you pay a few dollars more NOT to see the ads? I just ignore the ads anyway. -- Agree with me now. It will save so much time. | |

As long as you are willing to pay more for ad-free web mail; nothing really wrong with that decision. But my price point for HSI is about $25; and I prefer to use an email client over web browser for email access, anyway. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum
