I'm on my DSL connection now because I can't use my comcast connection at all. The page is titled: Welcome to Comcast and contains the following text:
Important Message from Comcast

In order to get online, please review and accept the Comcast High-Speed Internet Service Subscriber Agreement and enter your zip code below to contact a Comcast representative. (block of subscriber agreement)

Anyone else get this screen before? I tried actually clicking through with it and goes to a "we'll have someone contact you about your account within 24 hours" -- ...I don't have a 8mb speedy connection, I fly through the net at low altitudes! |

 | Re: [Connectivity] Odd screen popped up when trying to surf inte Strange, I'm getting the same message only when I go to a site like thepiratebay or demonoid. Any ideas what is going on? |
|
 | Here is the page if anyone wants to see it. |
|
 | Same thing here in NJ.. This is BS! |
|
 | Try using non-Comcast DNS servers. Probably tracking everyone's visits to warez sites. |

 | reply to SolarPup I had the message too, looks like they might be trying to get rid of people using certain DNS servers. I got rid of it by changing my DNS server to the DHCP one they were giving my router. Hopefully this doesn't become the norm. |

|
 | reply to SolarPup You can try using OpenDNS at: »opendns.com/start/
On the right hand side of the webpage, there is a list of operating systems (i.e. Windows, Linux, Mac, etc.) and other devices (i.e. router, mobile, etc.). Pick the appropriate one and follow the instructions.
Based on this blog: »fadeproofonline.com/?p=165 it looks like Comcast's DNS servers are craping out. |

SolarPupHardware GodPremium join:2002-03-07 Greeley, CO 1 edit | reply to tvrvic I don't get it though.. I'm using their DNS servers.. lol.. this is weird..luckily i have a backup DSL connection... and if you try to do the chat thing, it says like 750 people in queue, customer service has no idea what that error message is for.
I tried using sprintlink's DNS servers, and still get the same message, and the csr said my config file wasn't blocked for anything. |
|
 | after you switch DNS servers do ipconfig/flushdns to clear out any cache of the comcast addresses. |

A woman at Comcast was able to get me up and running again. This also affected my Outlook 2003 email.
Some sypware guru out that has created this no doubt. ________________ Go to your start button and find the run command. Once there type in cmd, hit enter.
In the text box type in ipconfig /release hit enter, and all commands after typing in ipconfig have a space after that word and before the / symbol.
Now type in ipconfig /flushdns hit enter
Now type in ipconfig /renew hit enter
Go to your Control Panel on your start button. Choose Internet Options, and delete cookie and temp. internet files.
Then go below and clear your history. |

Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | reply to SolarPup I called up Comcast again as it has happened to me three times this morning.
I got a live person within two minutes of calling, very impressive for the amount of calls they are getting today no doubt.
They are having a meeting right now on this, and I hope they get to the bottom of it.
I checked my DNS #s in my Linksys router, and they seem to be Comcast ones since they start with 68 and end with 196. -- My Forum My PC My UT 2004 Server |

Corey_TToyota Offroad Forum Owner join:2001-10-27 Auburn, WA | reply to SolarPup Bummer, good thing you have a backup way to surf, I do not.
I wonder if switching to non Comcast dns #s would help? I checked my network ip settings, and it was set to obtain the numbers automatically, but as mentioned above, my Linksys router shows two sets of #s in there, I think they are Comcasts. |

 | reply to SolarPup Same problem here, what torqued me the most is their complete lack of honesty. For some reason they prefer to blame the problem on antivirus settings. I was told to change my settings in my antivirus until it started working. When I pressed the issue, he admitted that it "might" be an network problem.
Might be? They know they have a network issue, but instead of being honest and proactive, they blame the user. This should be considered a network outage, and if I were a competitor ISP, I would use this to my advantage.
Blaming the user for a known network issue is irresponsible at best. |
