| reply to bignet I would have to guess that Niagara Falls would get it before Eden, but neither are on the docket yet. Verizon is going for volume, meaning households passed per mile of fiber. In Main St. CO the houses are close and are mostly doubles. They want to get video franchises, so the more households the better. They also figure in the areas that will buy it. |

@verizon.net | Wow, Bignet, this is great news. I live literally 3 blocks from you, so hopefully I won't have too long to wait. |

| reply to DSLephant If you live 3 blocks from me now, and don't have it available already, you're in the Williamsville district and they're not getting it until late '08 at the earliest, and even then it's being phased in over 5 yrs.
I'm not sure how the marketing department determine what locations will buy it. |

@verizon.net | The day of my last post I called the main Buffalo number and the woman told me Amherst wouldn't be "until after the first of the year."
It would appear there's a great deal of uncertainty... |

| That looks like it might be lashed to CATV/Time Warner. Verizon has been using fiber for POTS (voice) and T1/T3 (data) since the 80's, so just because you see fiber splices doesn't mean that FiOS is nearby. First you will see a bunch of line truck and linemen on the poles running new cable. The you will see smaller bucket trucks and cube vans (splicers). You will definitely know its available when you see mini refrigerators on poles. This website has a pretty good overview with pics and videos: »www.broadbandsoho.com/Verizon_FT···rial.htm |
