I haven't heard anything for Lockport yet.

Any idea if Fios is headed down to Eden anytime soon?

Any news on if it's ever coming to the Falls?

I would have to guess that Niagara Falls would get it before Eden, but neither are on the docket yet. Verizon is going for volume, meaning households passed per mile of fiber. In Main St. CO the houses are close and are mostly doubles. They want to get video franchises, so the more households the better. They also figure in the areas that will buy it.

Wow, Bignet, this is great news. I live literally 3 blocks from you, so hopefully I won't have too long to wait.

How do they figure which areas will buy it?

If you live 3 blocks from me now, and don't have it available already, you're in the Williamsville district and they're not getting it until late '08 at the earliest, and even then it's being phased in over 5 yrs.

I'm not sure how the marketing department determine what locations will buy it.

That's...not good news...

Talked to a tech installing fiber on the corner of Cottonwood Dr. and Klein Rd. Told me all of the area would have FIOS in less than 3 months.

The day of my last post I called the main Buffalo number and the woman told me Amherst wouldn't be "until after the first of the year."

It would appear there's a great deal of uncertainty...

I see what looks like fios nodes being put in all down transit in lockport. I will post a picture soon. I've talked to verizon about a month ago. Let me know if you have any other info.

That looks like it might be lashed to CATV/Time Warner.
Verizon has been using fiber for POTS (voice) and T1/T3 (data) since the 80's, so just because you see fiber splices doesn't mean that FiOS is nearby. First you will see a bunch of line truck and linemen on the poles running new cable. The you will see smaller bucket trucks and cube vans (splicers). You will definitely know its available when you see mini refrigerators on poles. This website has a pretty good overview with pics and videos: »www.broadbandsoho.com/Verizon_FT···rial.htm

Does any insider at Verizon know if there are any plans to bring FiOS to the greater Utica area?
