Bah blaming P2P technology because those who use it for the wrong purposes are no way to insult or even think that P2P traffic is bad.

You are all aware that when you transfer something between two computers it's considered P2P traffic right? Bit torrent can be used for many purposes and the same goes with Limewire. One perfect example is Joost which uses P2P technology and is not doing anything illegal.

Bit torrent is also a mass distribution system, the reason why those who illegally share files or data is because it's the fastest, most efficient way to transfer content. There is no need for a host once the content has reached one of it's peers and data is exchanged in pieces between computers.

Server to client setups require that the server must be able to hold the load of every client, this is not efficient by any means as it's passing data between one link vs many links to achieve the fastest speeds possible.

Imagine if you where able to mirror a server several times, but the DNS splits each client to different types of servers but all display the same content. Now consider that every person also became a mirror and contributed to the original servers.

It's almost if not similar to being on a large scale Grid.

Just because the idea is new does not mean is a bad one, or are we going to do the same to what happened with the electric car?

How true!

The common household claw hammer has been used as a murder weapon countless times, but because the volume of its constructive usage far outweighs that of its misuse, nobody thinks ill of this handy tool. The same used to be true for the common pocket knife. It's not clear why society now views this handy tool primarily as a weapon, as it's more useful than ever (think 'blister packaging'), and any previous abuses of this "very hard to be lethal, even if you try hard" tool have given way to handgun violence and road rage. It's pretty much the same story for P2P.

To me, the greater, and far more important issue is about how and why a nation that was once second to none in technological advances, and the quality of life that they brought, has degenerated into a bunch of ignorant 'fraidy cats.
