The data you posted so far is not revealing the cause of your issue.

What do the modem's error logs look like ?

What are it's indicator lights doing when these episodes occur ?

Are you renting the modem from them ? If you are, you may want to request a swap. If not, can you borrow one from someone ?

You can also try renting one from them for $3.00 for one month to determine whether or not the issue is being caused by it.

When I lose connection the power light stays solid and then the receive light blinks for a moment and usually becomes solid right after blinking a couple of times. The send light will blink for quite a while (usually a minute) and then will finally become solid and then the online light blinks about 4 times and then will become solid. Is something wrong with my upload? The only thing i haven't tried is replacing the modem, but since I own the one I'm using, I'll have to try to get a hold of another one.

It is not your equipment. I also live in the Springs and have been having similar issues for about over a week. I finally got comcrap to admit that they are having issues over a large area and we are in it. It usually starts about 3pm and clears up late at night with it working good most of the daytime hours. They told me the Adelphia system was in really bad shape when they took it over and they are now improving it to make it more reliable. I told the guy I was not having issues before but now that they are "improving" I am having connection issues. I have almost worn out the plug rebooting my modem and router - this helps sometimes and sometimes not. The modem lights says it never looses sync but you can't access the net. I understand an issue for a day or two but this is becoming really old really fast. Can't comcast hire techs that know how to fix their system?

Yeah, I'm having a tech come out tomorrow to see if he can do anything for me, but I'm not holding out much hope. I do know they are in the process of improving the system in Colorado Springs so hopefully this will get fixed sooner rather than later. I've done everything I could think of to try to improve things, but I'm out of luck it seems if I want to play games on-line or surf uninterrupted. I have a friend that lives nearby and he isn't having problems, but his area has supposedly been "upgraded" already. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Wow so I'm not actually alone in this crappy connection world in CS.

Been occasionally posting about it here and other places and all Ive gotten is silence.

Not that others sharing my on-line gaming withdrawal pain is enjoyable...

FYI I had a truck roll a couple weeks ago, the tech said my node was overloaded and scheduled to be upgraded and possibly split, but he wouldn't give me an ETA.

Im in 80922.

Hey, down here in Pueblo I have had the same thing. Only it has been going on since last Sept/Oct. I call about 3-5 times per month, go through all the reboot modem stuff, unhook router, hook directly to the modem, power cycle the PC and still get no where. They tell me they can "see" my modem, but not "access" it and they will send a tech out.

The tech comes out, checks the lines in-house and says they are fine, a bit of noise but not enough to cause complete outage. Then checks out at the pole and says there is fluctuation and issues there and they need to put in a call to a line tech to have the line serviced out on the pole or farther down the line.

Nothing ever changes - week after week I still continue to have the same issues, with the same resolutions. Reboot,, refresh, power-cycle, renew IPs, no connectivity.

Starts anywhere from 2-3pm and goes till 3-4am.

Either way they never "admit" there is a problem that is their responsibility to fix.

Had the tech stop by, told me I wasn't the only one in this area (zip 80923) having this problem. He suspected that the problem was being caused by the CMTS being being out of whack with uploads. Told me that the speedboost might be a suspect as it could be causing the upload to go above what is tolerated by the CMTS which is causing the modem to constantly reset. He told me that the issue will be escalated to "national" tomorrow, and that they are working to fix the problem. He couldn't give me an ETA on anything else. He was a nice tech and this information makes sense. The only problem is that I still don't have any idea when this issue might be fixed and I'm stuck with a bad internet connection. Maybe i should try DSL, but I haven't heard much better things regarding that.

Seems to me that this is a "local" issue...

And you have to wonder why they would add services if the "local" plant is not yet ready...

RoR thanks for the update. I'm in 80922, same as chanur. Today was the first day in about 9 that I haven't had any problems. I hope they got it fixed.

I'm in 80922 as well...every night things come to a crawwwwwwlllllllll.. it is absolutely horrible. I've got someone coming out on the 5th of July to check my modem, hook up their meter, check my signal levels, then tell me that everything is fine. I've had more Comcast guys here in the past couple of months than I had with @Home/Adelphia the previous 7 years.

Qwest 7Mbps isn't available here...if it was, I'd drop Comcast immediately.

Ditto on the Qwest thing. Last night was terrible. Even web browsing becomes intolerable. I'm not saying there is a connection (but definitely hinting), but the timing lines up - I'd gladly have comcast lose powerboost around here to get my reasonable latency back, as well as evening performance.

What I keep hearing from the tech's is the local equipment is bad/outdated/etc for Comcast's network... I guess the idea of replacing it before turning the engines up escaped somebody.

@mcleodusa.net

I have comcast for my home internet too and I didn't have any problems with Adelphia until Comcraptic took over. I have a gaming server in St Louis and when the switch was pushed to turn us over to comcast my pings went up twice as much and I found out they changed the routing. We in Colorado Springs get routed to Denver->San Francisco->San Jose->then to St Louis which makes no sense.
And add me as a ditto on the qwest option....can't get the good stuff in 80915

Heh, you gotta love it, on a Tuesday night no less I'm always optomistic - with Adelphia and others it was always the worst before a magical fix happened. Just defining worst is the problem.

Again tonight my fastest speed test is 1949 kbps down, 203 kbps up.

Listen up Comcast...that is PATHETIC! Once an alternative is available, I'm dropping all my Comcast services...HD, DVR, Digital, modem, everything.

Enjoy my money while you can. I can't believe I pay $120/month for this garbage. Absolute garbage.

Denver area connectivity is crappy too, just so you don't feel singled out.

Misery loves company!

I wish I could get Qwest to give me some insight on when (if) they plan to offer 8Mbps DSL here... 1.5Mbps is available but I'd rather pay $10 more a month for their 8Mbps, which is still cheaper than Comcast.
