| SunRocket out of money?
In his subscription only Daily T1R, Daniel Berringer postulates that SunRocket may have their lights turned out soon. It seems the reports I've been hearing around the Valley are that their CEO has been on the "money trail" around Silicon Valley, but not getting any takers.

| Duh!
After the venture capital is gone, the party is over, and the last one left at the table gets stuck with the bill.
With the expense of acquiring and keeping voip customers to build a survivable reoccurring revenue base, show me a provider that isn't running on lean after 3 years.
Thanks for the link. |

| reply to ThankYouLisaHook Wow, I'm glad I got out of CrapRocket a little over a week ago. Number was ported to Vonage and if I need to, I can port that to AT&T CallVantage (CV could not port from CrapRocket, so the interim step was needed to Vonage as CV can port from Vonage).
This is the reason I will never pay for a service up-front. Sure it may cost a bit more, but when they go under and you cannot get your free year, you just don't really save that much. -- Atheists swear there is no Heaven, but pray there isn't a Hell. |

Paying up front for 2 years at SR (as I did) costs the same as 8 months of going month-to-month. So if the company can survive for more than 8 months one is ahead by paying up front even if you don't get the full 2 years of service.
$24.95 per month is not just a "bit more" than $8.29 per month. |

| reply to ThankYouLisaHook CEOs are always on the hunt for cheap cash -- that's their job. I wouldn't read too much into that -- when they come back with 2 for 1 offers to try to pry $199 from a few extra new customers, that would be a more telling sign of an impending problem. |

Based on that logic, VT should be ready to shut its doors. On the other hand, should SR permit existing customers to participate in upcoming 2-for-1 deals, that could be a telling sign. |

| said by rizzo2dial :Based on that logic, VT should be ready to shut its doors. That's too much of a stretch for me ... SR had at least a year head start on VT ... wouldn't be a shock if VT soon slowed its use of that promo as SR did last fall ... also, VT is a side business of another successful (we're told) enterprise, so there could be some subsidization going on ... SR is standalone with no other business units to help with the cash flow, or to offset or share expenses ... |

You mean SR isn't an aeronautics firm running a VoIP business on the side as a means of developing/bolstering communications for their eventual solar missions on Sun Rockets? |

| Speaking of which, I don't think we spend nearly enough time on the whole Sunrocket/Hostrocket naming weirdness...

Perhaps more interesting to me is that this thread was apparently in jail for a while last night; it showed up linked but was not accessible.

It does appear that they were absent for the business 101 classes, but as strange as it may sound, for me, the service works quite well. As I have said, I don't need but a very few of the features, and those have worked. The fail safe feature would be nice, but again, I live very well with the SimRing, and even if the portal is down, I have called in to support and they switch it right over for me.
Hopefully they will continue to remain in business and not be affected by the Verizon/Vonage battle that went to court today. |

I don't understand why people bash it all the time.
For people having SR and complain about it, one advice, MOVE ON. There are plenty of players out there. I will too if my SR sound quality starts to degrade. |
