That is interesting. However, everything it does, I can do with a PC. Now, it would be rally cool if:

- I could use my cell phone as a handset
- It could seamlessly switch from cellular to landline when I get home.
- It could use VOIP if I subscribed to VOIP.

That would be something that I would buy.

Agreed. A high end UMA cell phone will be a better choice.

The Verizon-Hub should be out in August. It is supposed to support wireless VoIP thru a router. One nice thing, it will allow you to quickly check email without having to boot up a PC, download pics from your cell phone to it and even order pizza online without having to call the local joint. I can't wait for it to come out. Should compliment my fios tv/ & internet nicely.

That reminds me of the Bell System 'Picturephone' that they tried to market back in the 1960's.
I think there is a bunch of 95+ year old engineers hiding in a secret room at Bell Labs that are STILL beta testing that thing.

Smells like vaporware to me, because someone brought this up months ago,
but if enough people actually click the "Put Me On The List", and leave an email address, they might actually build the darn thing.

Probably would cost you a car payment each month for the service though!

I'll just keep checking here, for when it becomes available.
I'd still be waiting for FiOS if I had relied on their "put me on the list" notification system.

I understood this phone to be a update to the Verizon One phone, which was previously offered. This one, as did the Verizon One, both look really slick. I may actually get this phone since the presentation states that it operates on a low frequency that would not interfere with my access point. That is good since my 5.8 mghz phones barely operate when I am down in the basement.

It would be even better to have something like the verizon hub, but in the form factor as an iPhone.

I would rather do everything (talk/email/etc) on something the size of an iPhone rather than stand in the kitchen and use this, or sit in the livering room and have this on my lap.

To me, the form factor as a large device, is already out dated.

GTE had a service like that some years ago, i think it was called Tele-Go or something. it wasnt popular and it pretty much sucked on the switching. NOw this think is hot. I tried to sign up for the notification, but got the famous "cant complete your order" error. I'll just watch the forum (or stalk the stores) for any updates.

Hey, T-mobile will be offering something soon where you have a T-Mo hot spot (Linksys wireless box) and special Nokia phone (Can't remeber the model, but it looked a lot like the 6100) that switches from cellular to VOIP when you get in range to yours, or any other T-Mo hot spot. Just FYI.

The UI looks a lot like the "IMG", aka 2.0. I wonder if some of those features will make it to the STBs?

But it seems to be missing the two most obviously desirable features: general web browsing, and video telephony. (I know there's no standard for that, but they could make it work over Fios Internet as long as you were calling another Verizon Hub user.)

I have seen a prototype..they are still tweaking this unit but they have thought this unit out, 7 individual processors so as to eliminate conflicts depending on what functions are being used, USB ports so you can add a camera for video tel cap.,printer, touch screen,

Agreed. Look at the Nokia N800 for what you want, it's not a good phone replacement though.

Hi Everyone! According to my sources, The Verizon Hub is going to be released July 15th. The price will be around 260.00, with additional handsets costing 69.00 a piece. Can't wait to try it out !!

Not sure about the Hub, but I'm curious as well. I'm also curious about the FIOS Phone:
