Ditto in Powder Springs, GA. It appears our primary DNS is not responding to pings, but the secondary in Miami is...only problem is that it must be getting hard because it takes for ever to resolve hostnames...I'm having no problems pinging IP addresses that I know...

I was having problems pinging ips, so its not just a dns issue. Seems to be intermittent as some came back up and went down again, but as of right now i think most are comming back online

My experience is that both DNS Server are having problems at the moment. I got my connection back up by going to some alternative servers.(Found link on old DNS thread »www.portforward.com/netw ··· /dns.htm)
I tried the old Nashville DNS Server with no luck b/c I am willing to bet they are finally gone.

I suggest if you have anyone contacting you about DNS problem to refer to a post some months ago about it with a list of alternatives.

Got the same thing here, using the 'verison' DNS settings. Tried the ole BS settings as well. Looks to be a system wide problem.

You may try the ATT DNS farm: 68.94.156.1 and 68.94.157.1 or OpenDNS server farm: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

However, I was using OpenDNS and still expereinced some issues. So, I doubt that it is just a DNS issue.

Yup... their DNS is broken. I can't recommend opendns.com enough for when these things with Bellsouth happen:

* 208.67.222.222
* 208.67.220.220

If I don't switch to them in times like these, I get no internet access =/.

Having intermittent (mostly out) in Raleigh, NC too.

Just started about 15 minutes or so ago. More down than up, but barely up enough to check here and post.

I'm on the OpenDNS and have been. My 3meg line is running at about 150kb/s with roughly 150ms pings to most external sites.

I'm guessing someone messed up a huge network swap or something for so many to be affected.

surprised we haven't heard anything from the Death Star crowd on this outage...

they probably think something is wrong with the Endor shield generator

Same here in Miami. Connection just died for about 15-20 minutes. Big latency when it did come back up. Seems to be getting better now...

Getting better?? I just ran a speekeasy speedtest to Atlanta. I got a whole 95/413. Things are still down in the dumps here in Daytona.

When I can even get a speedtest to run.. I am looking at less than 75 kbps on a 6MBit Extreme connection.

Way more than DNS problems going on here... and you can't get through to Tech Support via Web or online to find out anything.

Yeah it died...Don't mess with things thinking it's you I just spent a bit of time disconnecting my wireless router and resetting the modem only to find they were down after trying to reach them for 10-15 mins. Finally got through to a recording that said, yes we were down now we're up. Now I have to go back and get the damn directions for wireless setup. At least I don't really need wireless at the moment.

Same here in Raleigh rtp area. Started 7pm ish. Now using an alternate DNS server which makes things connect but still very slow. Speakeasy to Atlanta 300kbs down typically over 6M down.

Having some high ping times, packet loss and intermittent connectivity here in Hillsborough, NC. Brother isn't very happy as he is trying to Raid in WoW...hehe going to be a quiet night for me!

Edit: Download speed is 105k should be 6M, upload isn't all that bad at 334k normally around 412k. From what my brother is telling me a bunch of people in WoW are being disconnected left and right and from the traceroutes I have run and a few friends have ran show high latency some where around Level3 Atlanta. Just a guess.

Spoke too soon. Just went out again for about 5 minutes -after being somewhat normal for about 20-30 before that...
Massive latency is back yet again.

Down here too.

Normally 6400/420 on speakeasy's test, tonight, (when I get it to actually run) 121/32.

Something is certainly hosed up. Not a DNS issue either. Been on OpenDNS for a couple years.
