Re: SunRocket Days are OVER! So, the obvious questions are:
1. Should we start looking for another provider now? 2. If so, what's the best alternative? 3. Will we be able to port our current number? If so, will waiting ruin our chances of getting the number ported? |

If so, will waiting ruin our chances of getting the number ported? 1. I don't think so, not until there's a definite statement that SR is shutting down. 2. Depends on your area. In my area, Comcast degrades Vonage-destined packets, so I'd probably go w/ ViaTalk. 3. No idea. -- NukedGallery.net |

 | reply to McShaken Cool your jets. You are an asset. The VC's will sell you to the highest bidder, assuming that there is a bidder. |

 | reply to dmolavi Bottom line is this....will our numbers go dead on us, simple as that. Maybe we are the Guinna pigs for this scenario |

Maybe we are the Guinna pigs for this scenario No, because the CLEC's know that if they pull the plug on SunRocket then they will never be paid. Depends on how much the individual CLECs are owed. If not that much each may just be a slight hiccup. If they let the unpaid balance run that up they may deserve it. Still this may be false. Then again there are no positive posts to disclaim it yet. Edit, as to other post I can order again, yea. |

 | reply to ItsALIVE I tried "Check Availability" and it said service is available in Columbus, OH 43227. I'm not going to give them my info to go through the signup process.
They're only a couple bucks cheaper than my ATT landline (I use my cell on the rare occasions I make an LD call), and besides, using my landline doesn't tie up my broadband. (That sounds backwards, don't it?)
Seems to me if all this turns out to be false, the OP could find themselves on the receiving end of a lawsuit (libel? deffamation?). Then again, it appears SunRocket couldn't afford to pursue a lawsuit so maybe not. |

I tried calling twice at 9:30 EST to place a new order and ultimately hit a "this is a non-working number" message. |

Unfortunately I don't think that "press release" means much of anything either way. (And they talk of "SunRocket's Bottom-Line Pricing(SM)" which hasn't been offered in months and is no longer even mentioned in the ToS.)
So, anybody know how solvent Viatalk/Hostrocket is these days?

 | reply to ItsALIVE How do we get our refund and money back. I signed up for the Sun Rocket phone last year and now its closing. How do i get my money back. I need my money for the remaining time. |

BPremium,MVM join:2000-10-28 | Your money is lost forever. If you read this far you must realize that.
The best thing you can do is ask for a "chargeback" with your credit card company. If it really was "last year" then your chances are slim.
The bright side is that if you signed up in, say, November, you've gotten about 9 months of use. At $199, that means you spent about $22 / month, so you still paid less than Vonage and considerably less than POTS.
