The unique views for this thread is really shocking to me but shows what a valuable resource the site has become.

Its good to see ya Sunrocket bl. Have any news from your coworkers or former employer? The people who are worried about loosing their number the number after 30 days will revert back to the original provider. This is if Sun Rocket shuts down. Now the tough part will be getting the telco to give you the number back. The people like me who have a Sun Rocket number might have a tougher job convincing the clec to give us the number. Clecs like level 3 and global crossing sell numbers on a whole sale level . I doubt they would deal with us individually.

Its official, Sunrocket let go most of its staff today, including me. There will be a skeleton crew of 24 people until the sale is final. The service will continue as normal at this time and I really dont know if they will shut down at this point since there are still two legitimate companies looking to buy SunRocket. If the sale does not occur, SR will close down in a month. No I am not an angry employee trying to start a new discussion, its sad that we didnt make it but thats the risk with a start up. Good luck to the current customers, wish we had more of you.

Tweek_, I've certainly heard various combinations of the info that has floated on this thread, though I can't profess knowledge of next steps for customers. I can only refer to historical precedent; most companies will figure out a way to ensure customers are not left without their most vital communications ID (phone number). So I'm going to truly hope that if there is some action taken relative to the company's future, that the loyal customers who helped build this company will be taken care of.

Losing the money is gonna suck, but if we lose the number I'm a dead man

Lingo and Vonage are looking to purchase. Lingo is the only solid non-cable company left out there. Not sure if they'll buy SunRocket.

I understand the company is closing. But why does it even need 24 people for employees? What are they doing? A VoIP company is just a machine and some software, really.

You are a few days behind the news, Nehmo. The 24 skeleton crew members were on the shut down/transfer team when SR thought their assets were going to be purchased by YMax. That fell through. There are currently 0 (zero, null) employees of SR.
