Re: Planning to do a credit card dispute? Read this

I just checked my statement online and Capital One has refunded me the total amount($209.26), plus finance charge ($20.29). Weird because I never pay finance charges in the first place.

FYI: I renewed back in January.

The bastards charged my American express just 2 weeks before closing shop for another year. That was an easy one to dispute. I called and explain that sunrocket charged me for a service they can no longer provide. The charge was new, did not even show up in the monthly bill. So it looks like this one will get reversed. I did not need to fax/sign/mail anything.

I had no problems with American Express. I called and said this company that charged $199 on my credit card no longer exist and they are not providing the service I purchased. They said no problem. They explained to me that they will give sunrocket 30 days to respond to the dispute before making adjustment permanent.

Well good news for me and this may explain why they went out of business.... Over the course of a year I bought 3 lines, service was great, but since they shorted me I decided to see if i could at least get a partial refund. Needless to say it wasn't needed on one account, they never charged me for it!!!

I originally signed up with Sunrocket using my Debit Card as a Mastercard. I just called my bank to look into disputing the charge. No questions asked, she set up the merchant fraud dispute. She indicated that they are familiar with the issue and she did not anticipate any problems.

So, it's looking like I'll get reimbursed for the entire amount originally paid to Sunrocket.

Call your CC company. This was on my account 1 day after calling them. I had renewed 2/27/2007 with SunRacket. Good Luck

Well, I requested a chargeback for the pro-rated amount of my SR Contract left with Discover and just got a letter in the mail denying my claim due to "age of the transaction and/or NON-RESPONSE from Sunrocket"....

Called Amex Blue and requested to dispute my charge. I renewed my annual on 5/31/07. Amex rep told me they were aware of SR bankruptcy and that a dispute request would be put in on my behalf.....hope this helps.

It really doesn't matter which bank you have (Chase, Citi WAMU etc...) as long as you have a visa or mastercard they should be able to take your dispute. The banks have to follow Visa and Mastercard regulations. I work in credit card disputes, and am getting a lot of SR disputes. All you have to do is tell them the date and amount, how long your contract was for and they will find out how much to credit you for the unused service.

Got a $183 refund with my Chase visa (service started in March). The lady was very helpful and well aware of the SR situation.

Re: Planning to do a SunRocket credit card dispute? AMEX

Amex Blue: I tried to initiate a charge dispute online but got message that disputes must be opened within 60 days of charge. (the charge was 2/16/07). Then I called AMEX customer service and explained the situation. The rep initially indicated it was too late, but when I said the out-of-business merchant was Sunrocket, she put me on hold, and three minutes later opened the dispute over the phone.

Technically, the terms of the 2 years for $199 offers are that you are paying for one year and the second year is free.

Some people have gotten their money back on the 2 years for $199 sales, but I'm just saying, there's a possibility they might not.

Also, to note: You do not want to speak with Visa or MC about the dispute. They do not issue cards. Instead, they license that to banks (such as Citi, Chase, B of A, etc.). You just use the Visa and MC card networks. So, you'll want to give your issuing bank a call (their number is on the back of your card). This does not apply for American Express or Discover cards (they issue their own cards).

I finally got the temporary credit on my Discover card. I'm not sure what they are planning to do next or what I may need to do next, but I've retained all my documentation incl. invoice, confirmation of original order, etc., etc. and am ready to send it to them should they request this.

Any true success from amex (I have the blue cash card- been with them w/credit++ for over 10 years).
I appear to have had success. See my post a few up. Called CSR one day with no luck. Emailed a few days later and got a reply saying the will investigate and will be crediting me until the review is complete. The credit showed up the next day. I can't see how they'd remove the credit once the dig in/try to contact SR and see what's going on. Hopefully it works out.

I called up my Discover card customer service. They were very helpful and said they'd credit my account, even though it posted back on 2/27/07. They gave me a case number and said that when Sunrocket prorates my use they'll charge me for that.

How did you get your refund so fast? You didn't have to wait for paperwork? I called them twice already and they kept referring me to the dispute department which as other have also experienced is a stonewalling tactic. They kept telling me to wait for the forms in the mail.
Not sure. I told the rep. that SR just closed up shop and took off, no way to contact, etc. I had a dispute with SR last year as well (incorrect billing, imagine that) and for that instance, I did have to submit forms, etc. I doubt that has anything to do with now, but maybe. So far, Citibank sent me the email saying thanks for giving us all the information we need. Last year, when I dealt with it, they sent me an email telling me to fill out the forms and mail it in.
