Anyone have comments on JoiPhone?
Are there activation fees?
They have a very good deal $108 annual ($8.95 mo but must pay year).
PS: I did search and saw some posts but they were too old or too little info. |

Without byod, if you need an adapter, the deal above is probably better than a lot of other voip providers. |

| reply to jeffnyc Are you serious? Not impressive with the fees and taxes?
Isnt VT 199 plus fees and shipping?
Wasnt SR 199 plus fees and shipping?
Isnt Nuvio now 199 plus shipping, port fee and taxes?
Most providers monthly are 19.95 or 24.95 plus taxes/fees.
ATTENTION ALL POSTERS ON THE SUNROCKET FORUM....

I agree the fees are comparable and better than many VOIP providers.
But for byod users, as in my case, I dont see an option. Most VOIP providers waive activation and of course shipping with BYOD so that is $45 less. Perhaps if one calls there customer service the option is available.
So bottomline, if you are a regular customer and not byod their prices are very good. Plus I actually like their website - it does not seem scammy to me as mentioned earlier in the thread. |

| reply to jeffnyc I think that I may try these guys, I want to call their Tech Support in the morning and find out if I can use my SR Gizmo to save on some of the costs.
I understand that a bunch of people have unlocked their gizmos to work with companies like viatalk.
Any info on joiphone would be appreciated! |

| reply to swanboy These folks have had billboards up around Atlanta for about the past year or more.
While that doesn't mean a lot, paying $3-4k/month for billboard advertising in a major city doesn't seem like a normal MO for a scamster.
Additionally, these guys ran a successful ISP provider company (JoiInternet?) for a few years before selling it off (I think to Earthlink), so it's not as if they are a fly-by-night company.
The thing that I liked the least was that it's hard to find out how much it will cost for their services without going through the sign-up process far enough to get to a page that lists what they are about to charge your credit card.
Early in the Sunrocket is Dead thread someone posted a link to the Joiphone service at $4.95/mo. If I were going to use them, I'd dig that link up.
But now that I've unlocked my Sunrocket Gizmo, I'm a BYOD guy, so no Joiphone for me. |

| Have fun trying to get the SIP proxy info and password from them so you can BYOD. I've been trying the past two days, and so far, nothing. It says right on their site for previous SunRocket customers to sign up for any plan, and BYOD. You'll see in their config instructions page (which is missing some stuff) that you'll need the SIP proxy and password e-mailed to you after you sign up. Then if you read the fine print at the bottom, they say to send them a message to their support address, and after they've confirmed your info, they'll e-mail the proxy and password to you.
After signing up for the two year plan, and three messages later, they still haven't provided it to me. They told me in their reply to my second message (first was not answered at all) that I did not have a need for that info, because they already sent out my ATA. BUT, I won't have it for six days (FedEx tracking number), and so I'd like to BMOD for now, but they haven't come through with what their web page says they'll do. So far, I haven't heard of anyone that JoiPhone has followed up with on this, and actually given them the proxy and password info so that they can BYOD. |

| reply to cornflakes So far, so good.
Better sound quality than SR; no delay, no chopping, no echo, even when browsing the web and using the phone at the same time.
Me likes JoiPhone ...
Now, I just have to wait for them to port my old SR phone number. |
