They have a dedicated chat area specifically for billing questions. Have you tried that? I can't speak for mazilo . But as for me, no, I haven't tried it. Because for one thing (thankfully), I don't even own a MagicJack. I'm basing my opinions on the experience a friend of mine had, and some research here and elsewhere on the net.
But I will tell you this. There is a big difference between what I'm seeing with the magical MagicJack company, and how I'm accustomed to dealing with other companies.
I think maybe you've missed some of the important points I was trying to make. Again, I say the best of luck to you. I have a feeling you may need it some time down the road.
With that, I guess I'll just be thankful that I'm not involved with the company in any way myself, and will gracefully bow out if this thread for good.
Enjoy. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

That it self explains why MJ isn't a reputable company, or is it? They have a dedicated chat area specifically for billing questions. Have you tried that? As we all know it is quite frustrating when we call "ANY" large company for technical support and get someone with a thick Indian accent. They are hard for americans to understand. If you look at it in that light, you should be happy the support is chat based and not phone based. MagicJack is a cutting edge technology company and for all of those who aren't yet comfortable chatting for support, you better get use to it! Even large public fortune 500 companies use online chatting for support. For example, my credit card company uses chat for support... I expect a big shift in that direction in the coming 2 years... Saves companies millions! |

[quote Actually, I kind of like the idea of no live support. After all, you have 30 days to get the thing working; if it works before the 30 days are up, it should keep working unless you screw something up at your end, and that's your lookout anyway.
If it doesn't work after 30 days, you return it and are out the cost of shipping (both ways I suppose). Probably worth the risk for the cheap calling if it does work. quote]
No live support probably saves mj a bundle, which they can pass on to you. Finally, somone with a grip on reality!!! Thank You! |

If the problem is caused by something on your home computer or network, it's not their fault or problem or obligation to help you... On the other side, if the problem is on their end, live support will not be able to talk you through fixing it. They do have live chat operators available that can provide you with the necessary information to troubleshoot your problem.
Come on now....Its only 40 bucks! What do you want them to come to your house, fix your PC, and install it for that price to? Man some people... I doubt many people will dispute the fact that it's a very easy device to get working properly.
The "live support" problem comes in to play when you decide to send your MagicJack back, and they keep charging your credit card anyway. (Or any other billing related problems, for that matter).
Unfortunately, I'm starting to see complaints of this type on a fairly large scale. Most reputable companies will at least have a phone number you can call (or at the very least an email address), in the event you can't resolve a problem concerning billing or returns.
Sure, it appears to be a sweet deal for some people. It also appears to be a deal that's pretty difficult to get out of once they hook you, until you get your credit card company involved. From what I've seen and read (even in this very thread), the "live chat" people don't seem to be very helpful, or even have the power to do anything when it comes to the so called "billing department"....(which I suspect may very well be located in a different corner of the same rented room in some Florida Suite). A pretty scary and potentially frustrating scenerio, when they already have your credit card number on file, and you have no way to remove that information.
A friend of mine got involved with this "company". Right about now, I'm pretty happy that I didn't. -- I had a life once.....now I have a Computer and a Modem. |

double click on the window showing the error message and it will open a window for you to put your password. You might also try disabling your Antivirus software temporarily. |

| reply to SMCinAZ I got mine today. I had to set an exclustion for it in my firewall. After I did that, it installed automatically and is working as advertised. Also, after registering mine, it took about 1 hour before it started fully working with voicemail.
If this device can keep me from going over on my cell minutes by making outgoing calls on it instead of my cell while I'm home, it has paid for itself.
I am sure they will get it working better and better. The reason there is no live support is because, you shouldn't need it. | reply to SMCinAZ SMCinAZ,
Yes Three days of poop service and not even an email to their subscribers is pretty lame.
If you are going to make waves, the credit card people can hurt MJ but the Better Business Bureau IMHO is a total waste of time. Companies pay to join and the BBB has no teeth. Whereas the Credit Card people have the ability to really hurt them (if they choose to). |
