U-Verse Maybe Coming Our Way?

Hi, I live in the Lakewood area of Dallas near the White Rock Lake Spillway. Only my wife is smart enough to take and post digital photos, so for now I can only describe what I'm seeing textually.

There are two new beige boxes behind our house. One is nearly four feet high, about two+ plus feet deep, by about two+ feet the other way. There are hexagonal key-locked doors front and side, and orange stickers that say "AT&T" and "2300" and "underground cable and call before you dig". The words "POWER/SPLICE" are also painted in black on the side. And there is a "00063451" (identifying?) number also printed in black on the side.

The other new box is also beige, considerably smaller, has a TU Electric meter on the front (with the street block number taped above the meter). There is a locked door on the side with colored sign in all caps: "danger high-voltage suitable as service equipment dead front requires padlock" (and the front has a tiny tu padlock just under the meter). The back has gray plastic pieces, one covering an unsecured 4-pronged power connection of some sort. The gray plastic pieces on the back say HUBBELL.

Both new boxes are standing on a new white concrete slab. Also, there are two heavy (concrete-filled) poles on either side of the concrete slab, positioned (I expect) to block or deflect traffic strikes from the roadway nearby.

We have been legacy DSL customers since the late 1990s, and we got moved over to a remote terminal (on far side of our street / small neighborhood) several years ago. The two new boxes described above have appeared just in the last month or so. Does anyone have an opinion that they do, or do not, sound like U-Verse infrastructure?

Thanks for any thoughts.

From what you are describing, the 4 foot tall box is a VRAD/DSLAM, and the smaller box is its power supply.

When your wife has time, if she wouldn't mind taking some pics, that would help out a lot.

Not sure about the 8 foot one, none of those around here...

The 4 foot and the 6 foot ones both do the same thing though.

Thanks.

In Pic1, from left to right, that is a VRAD mini, the VRADs power supply, and the city power meter to feed the VRADs power supply.

i won't bother my wife to try and get new pictures but i noticed something new this morning. the new boxes behind our house now sport gold padlocks with the SESAMEE brand on each; also, the large box (VRAD?) now has an audible electronic whir or hum and i can feel some warmth on its front side. last word from friend inside at&t, though, is u-verse is "not available" at our location and "no eta"

Mr. Taylor,
The contractor working in your neighborhood is working for AT&T. AT&T is preparing the phone lines for u-verse in your area. AT&T has to dig up areas that may not be good at times. Please be assured that when AT&T is finished the areas dug up will be back to 100% or better when the job is finished. Below are numbers that I can be reached at if there are any problems. Please feel free to contact me at anytime. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Yeah, we have something not unlike that by our RTs, and there's 2 lights on it too, heheh. I bet those won't be off any time soon

my wife reports a machine called yesterday advising att had updated our infrastructure and please call some number (which she did not record) to learn about new stuff. u-verse availability on site still shows no, but even if it really might be available, i'll not be investigating. (i again told att's computer i wanted to be notified when u-verse is available.) i probably am going to need to have an authorized (natural) person contact me before I'll spend more time thinking about any u-verse option. I just won't chase machines. also, i have become a little worried about this thread. i will be in major doghouse if i dump our working directv for u-verse if latter doesn't do a decent job replacing
