Alright, let's start tracking it again.

need the following

• Addresses having the problem?
• Mail client you are using?
• Webmail working at all?
• DSL ok? Any other problems? Downloads ok
• DSL enabled phone number or fake tn.
• Best contact number to get a hold of you in case any other questions are to be asked?

Thanks
David
All addresses;
Outlook;
Mail works intermittent timeouts;
DSL is fine...no other issues;

This is the exact same sloooooow mail problem as back in August. That should give you a very BIG clue.

This issue is:
1) widespread;
2) not related to a specific email client;
3) not related to DSL;

Granted, however, we have to send this to Yahoo NOC and they are very picky. We have a process in place to escalate Yahoo related outages to them and one part of this process requires me to have fresh examples. I cannot use the ones from last August. David and Matt know who I am and they know how to get hold of me. I may not be on here alot but I do have access to the direct forums and its really not uncommon to have them emailing me threads in there.

If you are still having this issue, drop a post in the direct forum and I'll grab it up or have David and Matt send 'em to me through email.

Just when I thought I was going to get a break this year! humph!

new topic in direct please, there should be a button entitled [Email 09-25-07] to choose from in the direct forum.

I have this thread bookmarked now, in addition to what David is asking for, also be sure to put in the error message and exactly what the problem is. Can't send or receive is pretty vague. If you would like to provide your DSL TN, email address and such then make a post in the direct forum and I'll check your account from there.

I work in the NCG on overnights so me making a callback is going to be next to impossible with all this maintenance and such going on but your post will be answered.

*EDIT:
Maybe we should create a new thread, this one has some pretty old posts in it.

Yep, last two days I've been getting a lot of server timeout errors in Eudora when it tries to check for mail. But you can check 2 seconds later and it's fine.

It doesn't seem to be limited to business hours, though, which is usually when the Yahoo servers fall down.
Nope, it is anytime now.
I usually check between 10 and 15 of the sbcglobal accounts and each time 1 or 2 fails.
I also use Eudora and set it up to check just 1 at a time but same thing.
A new manual check will usually get the ones that failed prior but then two new ones will fail.
It seems purely random as to which account fails.

If you want reliable email service and have some leverage when things aren't go well, get your own domain name. Some registrars offer hosted email with the domain or there are lots of low cost web hosts out there. IMO it's not worth the aggravation to deal with AT&T/Yahoo or wait around for something good to happen. I've had SBC/AT&T DSL going on 6yrs next month and their email has never been reliable and trouble free.

Is AT&T doing to dump Yahoo and provide decent email service, or should I just give up and blow off AT&T altogether?

Re: pop.att.yahoo.com Mail sloooooooow

I've been patient on this issue, figuring that 1) they are aware and will get it sorted out.

2) webmail still works, so its ok..

but man, its been 7 days. so David, I just posted in the direct forum... any help you can give will be appreciated.

Thanks
