| reply to inajeep4 Re: XBOX 360 and FiOs(Actiontec M1424WR)
Be sure you get a cat5 connection from the ONT to the Actiontec, so can easily swap out the Actiontec with the D-Link DIR655.
VZ standard practice is a coax install from the ONT to the Actiontec, which makes connecting any 3rd party router a hassle. |

| reply to AocLokk I haven't found a FAQ on the Xbox/360 + Actiontec/FIOS and have been going through this thread in preparation of a new FIOS install at my house. Most of the 'fixes' I see depend on upgrading the f/w of the ACtiontec router. I already have a DIR-655 router that I am happy with and will plan to use that in conjunction with the Actiontec. I have two 360s (wired and wireless dlink gaming adapter) which based on the info I found here will be placed in the DMZ with hardcode IP addresses. Any other information, urls or setting suggestions would be appreciated. I ordered the 20/20 service so I hope to be able to finally host some games. |

| reply to AocLokk I just bought the Xbox wireless device and hooked it up to the Xbox. I keep trying to enter the settings of my Fios wireless router and the settings page on the xbox for the wireless is all grayed out. The antenna shows a red dot and must be working and I know my network works and is broadcasting. Has anyone run across being unable to set up the wireless antenna (it won't let me enter any of the information)? |

| reply to AocLokk Wired Xbox 360 issues
I have been trying to connect my 360 (wired) to my actiontec router for quite awhile (about 9 months now) it works once every 30 boots and gets an IP. Latest firmware and all. Been just using ICS through my computer, but I would much rather avoid the extra step.
One other curiosity though, when the 360 is turned on and trying to connect it completely hammers my network and the internet grinds to a complete halt on all the connected computers. NAT table issue? |

| reply to mrjoanofarc it seems to me a lot of you have had problems with your NAT, and actually connecting to xbox live, but my situation is a little different, i can connect to xbl just fine, and my NAT is OPEN, but every game i try to play on halo 3 im in red connection every game. Does anyone else have this same issue? The only solution i managed to find was by resetting my actiontec router, and even then i only get a good connection for one game.
Im running on a wireless network and using an old xbox wireless adapter. If anyone has any type of solution please let me know |

| reply to boomhs ^^ Hey, post above me...
I'm having the exact same situation here, too.
I've exhausted basically all resources, and at a dead end.
Do you think I could call Verizon and get "revision D" of the router? Will that fix the problem?
I did the entire "upgrade firmware" thing people recommended earlier in this long discussion, only to find out I already had the latest version.
Fios and Xbox is supposed to be a *GOOD* combination! Shew. |

| reply to AocLokk Hello, my name is Dave. I have been having much trouble with my
MI424-WR FiOs router while trying to connect to Xbox live via a Wireless Adaptor.
I've looked at posts here and elsewhere, and I still cant get this thing to connect.
My firmware is version 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.7
And my Xbox console just says Disconnected every time I try to configure Xbox live. It won't even let me change my wireless settings. That part of the settings blade is greyed out. If there is anyone out there with a solution or still experiencing this problem please let me know. |

| reply to AocLokk I just upgraded to Verizon FIOS from Verizon DSL and like everyone who posted on this board, started having problems with my XBOX Live connection. I was able to connect, but the connection was worse than having a 28k phone line connection. After several hours back and forth with Verizon support, XBOX suppor and Actiontec and no success I decided to take matters into my own hands. I started searching the web and finally came across this message board and found a post with the fix to this problem - I copied it for you below. **A note, if you changed the settings on your router, you will need to reset it for the patch to work.** Thank you Munkiez!
Upgrade Works!!!
THANK YOU BABY JESUS!
The upgrade has worked. What I did was download the upgrade file from the link provided by ColdWater:
www2.verizon.net/micro/actiontec/actiontec.asp
And saved it to my hard drive. Then i went to the router page (192.168.1.1) and went to advanced and selected Firmware upgrade. From there I did a force and browsed to the file from my computer. It took about a minute and I watched my router restart. Then the page refreshed and I had to login again.
Next, I went to my xbox and plugged in my wireless router. I had to edit my setting and redetect my wireless network. Reinput my WEP key and voila it worked! So great.
Let me know if anyone is having issues, I dont mind helping after all the help that has been given around here lately.
See ya on Live WIRELESSLY!

| reply to AocLokk you guys dont even want to no my problems. i sufferd for three months because off the tech who installed are fios used the old cables in as a result the only one out of the whole bunch of wires that was bad happend to be the one to the router. it took me five minutes of playing halo 3 befor i relized there was a problem .i new something was wrong when i got disconnected every five minutes. so i called verizon told them something was wrong in they told me it was the router wich it wasnt anyways. three moths later problem fixed they finally found the problem after 40 phone calls in a threat of disscountnuing service finally got there attention they passed my problems to a tier 2 deparment. at wich they ran some line test spotted the problem in told me i was right about it not being the router so any ways the dispatced a tech to my houes in get this he missed 7 opointments in a row finally he makse one in replaces the cable with an ethernet cable in problem fixed but it only took them three months to fix my problems in im so happy i spent every fucking night tell they fixed it suffering with no enternet. anyways i have some tips for those of you that are haveing problems. make sure that when they install your fios that they use a ethernet cable i dont no why but to me its better you still need a coax hooked up to the router for the tv guide to work. and always test every thing befor the tech leves. and heres a tip for XBOX 360 and PS3 if you want to HOST GAMES you will have to set up a DHCP server in how you do this is CLICK on my CONNECTIONS if your useing broadband coax you wat to go there if your useing broadband ethernet you will go there. once you are there you will see settings at the bottom left of the page CLICK on it. Ok once inside you will see a more detailed page of your broadband connection in if you scroll down you will see were it says ip distribution CLICK on it Ok now scroll down to DHCP server in press it in then a new screen pops up asking for a starting ip address in an ending ip address enter this fore your starting ip address 192.168.1.1 and for the ending ip address enter 192.168.1.254 Ok NOW IT ASKS FOR YOUR SUBNET MASK TYPE IN THIS 255.255.255.0 next you will need to put in a lease time type in 5000 in becarfull not to leve in spaces are else it will say incorrect same thing applys to the information at the top be sure to hit back space after you hit enter because hitting enter will add a space and the space will count as a number for some reason. anyways once you are done hit APPLY at the bottom of the page IF YOU DONE THINGS RIGHT YOU SHOULD SEE THIS ON THE NEXT PAGE RUNNING A DHCP SERVER ON A LAN DEVICE IS VERY UNUSALL ARE YOU SURE THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO HIT APPLY IN YOU ARE DONE. you should be hosting great games after this anyways who loves you me or them verizon being them so thats it talk to yall latter. |

| reply to BLUNTED 1 I don't have problem connecting the 360 (static IP, and wired), but I am having the issue that when I play extensively on Live I need to reboot the actiontec because my speed decrease. I know it has to do with the NAT table being small and all, but I want to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and if perhaps there is a fix for it.
Thank you guys. |
