Edit This! -- Artify© Edition #145Hi all, It's an honour (thanks HFB1217 for naming me) to have been asked to launch this weeks Artify thread. I am using one of my images that I think can be both challenging and fun at the same time. Look carefully. Anyone new to this can look here for how this all got started: Edit This! -- Artify© Edition # 1. Optional but important: Documenting any methods, tricks, actions etc. used in making your derivative image would be helpful for anyone new to this great forum. So without further blathering on my part, lets go and have some fun.

I cropped, I added a chipmonk eating a flowerbehind the fallen log, added a frame, and a bunch of stuff I can't remember. And made a general mess of things.

Played with the sliders in Picasa - don't remember exact sequence, but did repeated "sharpen"/"warmify", did some film grain, highlights and shadows. |

Depth Perception |
Toying with the Magnetic Lasso I tried to apply different exposures to the 3 fields to give it more depth and a more natural feel. |

First I did a horizontal flip of the image then merged a Giant African snail with the tree stump. Then did a 3 sided frame did a light dry dry smudge of the snails edges and head to blend in with the wood of the tree stump did a bit of general cloning of the leaves to the edge of the snail. OOB the snail and the frame. Applied an Edge Blur then a Black edge vignette. The Snail head is part snail part tree stump. It looked like a snail's head that's what gave me my image. Then warped the OOB frame and a little sharpening inside the OOB frame and the uploaded it. |

JKK does love this one, but then...I love them all! I also will tell you that all that I've done thus far has been in Xero plugin and Picture It. Very little has been done with Paint Shop Pro X this time. |

1) Squarify plugin by Richard Rosenman 2) clone some horns, brush in some eyes, fill in mouth 3) add zoom blur layer 4) bump map 5) adjust levels, saturation, etc At least that's what I remember... |

Follow the yellow brick road...
MAIN POINTS (I'm not sure about the order): * Using old version of PSP * Rotating Mirror Deformation (no offsets) * Sunburst Gradient used as mask for a burn layer for vignetting * Gaussian Blur using a largely feathered freehand selection to limit its application (keep the "road" sharp) * Feedback effect to get the road disappearing in the distance * Colour layer to tint the "road"
"Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY!"
