Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

In the mean time .....

Download DrTcp

Set Tcp Receive Window to 64240

Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.

Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank

Save/Exit DrTcp

Reboot

Rerun the Tweak Test

Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs

Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512

Note your speed after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.

Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

1: Downloaded DrTcp and set it up accordingly.
2: re-ran tweak test »/tweakr/block:···a=normal

3: Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest me are LA, Calif with 1021 kbps down and 242 kbps up
and San Fransisco with 1016kbps down and 242kbps up
(these look much better i think)

4: On the test download here I get a error message saying I have no access to this ftp server.
So I went to downloads.com here : »www.download.com/WarRock/3000-74···820.html and tried to download this game. It starts at 117kbs then drops to 55 and then slides up to 70 and stablizises in 30-45sec. This is better than yesterday though when I was trying one and it said 20. and another at 50. So is better. But I was downloading at 128 -117 alwaays before, but not now.

Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

On a added note also, I just plugged in the fan and it did not disconnect me earlier and I thought yay! but then this evening I turned it off and .. no internet.

sure don't understand the common denominator between these two things. But sure appreciate the thoughts and ideas.

Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

• As for the tweaks and the speed, that is all OK.

• Go to »192.168.100.1. The username is admin and the password is w2402. Post you signals.

• You have some high latency on your line and at your hop. It could be your problem or the ISPs (I see that you are in Mexico.) Ask your ISP to run a ping and line quality check and see what they have to say.

• As for the fan issue, that is not normal. Could be a grounding issue or a dozen other things. I would not not advise that you try to fix it yourself unless you are an electrician. I would ask the ISP to check the line coming into your house and make sure it is grounded properly. If that is not the issue, get an electrician to check it out.

Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

Just a few simple things you might do:

Perhaps the cable modem is getting too hot due to the warmer temperatures. Or, perhaps, the power-line voltage is lower than normal.

1. Is your cable modem sitting on top of your PC or another heat source?
2. If that is not an issue, try using a fan to cool the modem.
3. Do the lights dim if an appliance is turned on? Ask the electricity provider about the incoming voltage at your home. Has it changed recently due to extra demand on the system?

Re: [Info] Outlet usage disconnects Modem

• Signals are OK.

• Speeds are OK.

• It is possible that the heat is driving the upstream out of spec; however, I don't think this is the case here.
