tested it on one of my Pc's.
Must admit I'm pretty impressed. all components in the suite work pretty well.

I bit the bullet and installed it. 30 days free.
Some things I've noticed:
1. No scheduled scan settings that I can find.
2. No quarantine that I can find.
3. No password protection that I can find.
4. No settings to "delete, disinfect, quarantine", etc. that I can find.
5. Browsing internet does have some hesitation occasionally. Probably related to it looking for spyware, infected cookies, etc.
6. Setup and settings are pretty basic. Go into them and check them or uncheck them. Very easy and very little configuration available to the user (Could be pro or con, depending on who's using it).
6. Overall scanning is pretty fast. Scanned 373k files in about 19 mins (about the same as what NOD did on this pc).
I'll continue to try it out and give more thoughts...

| You are right Guruguy the settings are rather basic. I have come to like that with time. It sits there and does the job. I have had Panda AV on my desktop for over a year now as i had Panda AV 2007 and now the 2008 version. I do wish it had a scheduled scan but you can go into Pandas helpfiles and set it up to scan with Windows scheduled tasks. The slight hesitation when browsing comes from the HTML scanning. I used to get that at times with NOD32. Slightly annoying but it's an extra little layer of security. my work Laptop has Online Armor AV+, another great little security App...

It is correct that it is basic. It is made for the home users indeed. But it is rather fast and easy

I see absolutely nothing in the help text that tells you how to setup a scheduled scan via windows scheduled tasks.
What do you launch via task manager to scan and what are the attributes for scanning C:, all hard drives, etc.

| Well this is annoying, they used to have a link in the Panda website support/knowledge base area for this. Now I can't pull it up. I just remember to do virus scans on Sundays. I'll try emailing them and see what I can find. I also want to badger them as to why they are reluctant to add scheduled scans to their software again...

When will this be fixed. Apparently the 2007 version suffered the same problem...think they'd learn when they came out with the new version.

Atlanta, GA | On the Panda Security website, 2008 Internet Security and 2008 Anti-virus + Firewall; neither show in the technical requirements tab as supporting Windows Vista. Strangely, 2008 AV has Vista support.

| I haven't receives Pandaspam for some time. I'd contacted them through their site or from information or links in their email, can't recall which. I let them know when I'd tried unsuccessfully to unsubscribe, that all further emails would be submitted to spamcop and blacklisters and provided them a link to the then-current pandaspam topic in BBR.
I got one more a week later(which I reported), but none since then. |
