I am really beginning to hate ZA, I don't use it myself, but I have see so many posts lately, showing weird things, and names, like process, they need to redo this firewall completely. To be able to at least be able to name the program that is trying to get out. I haven't used ZA in a long time, does it show you the location of the application?

I know it is something winXP needs to connect because if i dont allow access i cant surf. Here is the log report

Yap, same here...Za window comes up...do you want this, with no name to act as a server...I say 'NO' and now can't connect to the net...

Tonight, I always lock ZA when not using PC...So now using ZA 2.6.362...Put lock on, come back and won't let a few sites in...Have to re-boot...:(

I don't think it really has to do with the firewall. If an application asks for access, ZA will list it based on the name the application presents. That name could be anything for all ZA cares, it just shows it.

The rule of thumb is if you don't know the application, say no.

"209.53.4.150" is you DSL provider. You have to resolve DNS through them.

Port 53 is for DNS, no you can't go there unless it knows where.

Just my opinion, but Tiny is all of what NIS is at least, and free.

I have XP Pro, and I have never been asked to allow process, to access the net, This is an ZA issue. If you did a pole on this you would find out of everyone using XP, only ZA users get asked to let process # out.

I get asked by my firewall to let programs out, their exact name and path is given, Would some one being willing to put up a pole on this?, I have never made a poll, and don't have the time to learn, this early, on my way to work.I would like to see a poll of XP users, and see how many people get asked to allow process ## out. That way we all can compare notes, and maybe pin this down.

Also here is a Question, if ZA asked to let a program out, Say Process 948, if this is a real name which I know it's not, ZA is just whacking out, Then just do a search on your pc for process 948, and this program should be found right?

Also I am not trying to flame ZA, I am just seeing posts by people, that need help, they ask for help, like this one, No one else has got things like this just ZA users, Again I am a XP, user, so are my friends, no one has been asked to let process ## out except ZA users.

Ps while I was typing this, I did a search on my pc for Process, and here you go, and yes I searched in all files, hidden files, and hidden extensions.

Is there any way possible you can blame this on Microsoft? Come on give it a try, Just point your finger, and Say it's Microsoft's fault.

I appears that the object is a process that was running at some time. ZoneAlarm included it in the list of programs.
I think this is normal.

I notice Napagator on your list. It might be related to this. Napagator has several processes running while running.

Sometimes a process can not be identified. It depends what program, or dll has opened the process.

WOW ZA asking if it's ok to allow a connection and XP doesn't >> seems like XP lets something connect that you won't know about >>> doesn't sound too secure to me.

Is this good or bad? Is ZA providing you more protection or less protection by doing this? If it cannot determine the program, then it asks about the process.

The opposite would be for your firewall to not ask about the process and simply let it through. I would rather be asked.

»Where Is XP taking you Today?

You may want to look at blackvipers site where he has set up a gateway and game sytem using XP and in that process has done a good job of defining some of the XP new features and then understand why you are getting many of these requested processes.

This is a good thing for me, bad thing for ZA, I don't use Xp's firewall, I use LNS, and LNS correctly identifies, what programs try to connect, ZA simply can't so it makes a guess. ie process 948, rather than just give you the programs name.

WOW is right ZA can't determine a simply function like correctly name the program, so it just makes a guess, I am not impressed, I see you are though. Heck if ZA is going to guess why not just call them all ie, LOL.

well its VERY simple, a program it can't identify asks for access >> if you don't know either or didn't want it to have access, I would much rather be asked and tell it no then ZA/XP allow it and be very sorry later.

You still don't get it, nothing is getting out of my pc, I am asked, but the difference is I am given the correct name and location of the unknown program. Which ZA can't do for some reason, my firewall doesn't guess it gets the name and full path, and shows me this information, before any program is allowed out.
