VOIP in Cobourg?

Hi,

I thought Cogeco users might know this, so I'm asking.

I need a VOIP service that has incoming numbers in Cobourg (or somewhere that can be dialled locally by Cobourg regular telephone users). I don't care about outbound, just need a Cobourg DID. I spend part of the year in Cobourg and have Cogeco service there.

I use Vonage for outbound calling when in Cobourg because I also use it from Brazil, where I am located most of the time. It is associated with a Toronto number.

Vonage offers "virtual" numbers that will ring on my account, but none that are local to Cobourg. (For example, I have a number in Peterborough for relatives there.) I can't find Cobourg numbers from any of the services I know of that offer DIDs throughout Canada. I need a number that can be forwarded to another VOIP number, of that can be accessed through a VOIP adapter such as a Sipura while I am away from Cobourg.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of a VOIP service that can provide a Cobourg number?

Unfortunately Cogeco Digital Phone is currently not available in Cobourg. Sorry Toollio.

Cogeco Digital Phone wouldn't have worked for me anyway, to be honest. Too expensive, not portable, no way to economically forward calls to Brazil etc. I am really hoping for a simple Cobourg DID that I can manage myself.

Ah.....I've got no idea about other services that could do that for you. Happy hunting though.

Hi Toollio,

I'm not aware of any VoIP providers that have DIDs available that are local to Cobourg. The best thing I could think of doing if you really need a local number there, would be to get a toll-free number from a VoIP provider, then people could call you for free .. don't know what else to suggest.

Cheers

I should have mentioned that I do have a toll-free VOIP number through Les.net. But I find people are reluctant to use it--particularly non-business callers. Not sure why.
