[DSL] Need help tweaking bellsouth DSL Xtreme 3.0

Set the MTU in the Router to 1492.

Download DrTcp

Set Tcp Receive Window to 63888

Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.

Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank

Using the drop-down menu in The Doctor set your NIC’s (Ethernet adapter’s) MTU to 1492.

Save/Exit DrTcp

Reboot

Rerun the Tweak Test

Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs

Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512

Note your speed after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.

Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test.

Sorry if thats not how u post them but i dont see anyway to link to them

Started out at 390 KB/SEC 364KB/SEC is what it held at.

• Looks pretty good on the speed side.

• Path MTU Discovery: OFF This should be ON. Did you set it to default when you tweaked?

I believe i did. Can i Get u to take a look at the modem for me just so i will rest assured knowing that things are good i gotta do some running but i will be back then i can plug in to the modem and get that info for ya if u can take a look if u cant thats fine i appreciate ur help big time

speed bounced all over the place from 298 to 398

The MTU is still not right.

Try this .....

Windows XP

This will reset the registry to default TCP/IP values.

Open a Command Prompt and type:
netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Reboot.

Retweak and do the drill.
