[Speed] Comcast vs DSL in Minnesota

Looking to hear from MN users.

Looking to switch from Qwest DSl, but seeing a lot of posts and opinions against Comcast.

Various reasons. Service, outages,etc.

Trying to gain more insight on Comcast and get some thoughts.

Thanks

DSL is very location specific as far as the speeds go so I don't think anyone except someone on your block could give you a good comparison.

Even that wouldn't necessarily be accurate. His neighbor's loop could be 4000 feet from the CO/RT, but his loop could meander around the neighborhood and could be 10000 feet. You never know until you order and they do an MLT to see how "far" you are from the CO.

Your best bet is if you can get a promo, try it out for a month while keeping DSL. Then you can decide which is better for your area.

since you have both available to you, switch to dsl for a promo price and when that runs out, switch back to comcast for their promo price-keep going back and forth and NEVER pay full price again! or if you like qwest, get their price for life deal-as far as comcast outages go, for me, it MIGHT happen no more than 3-5 times a year at the VERY MOST and they ALWAYS have it fixed within NO MORE than 3-5 hours

I worked from home in Eagan for several years so I was online all day and I had two brief outages (about an hour each) a few days apart two years ago. Other than that, it's been rock solid.

I always hit the advertised speeds in tests, but unless you're a heavy downloader with multiple active connections, I doubt you'll notice much difference in speed from Quest because the limiting factor seems to be at the source, not within Comcast's portion of the network.
