@bellsouth.net | Using an Actiontec GT704WG with AT&T dsl
I have an old Actiontec wifi router from my Verizon serivce. I want to use it for my AT&T/Bellsouth.net DSL. The modem doesn't seem to have an option for PPPoA, what my current AT&T users.
Is there anything I can do to get this to work? |

@FreeDialup.org | In my current modem it's set to PPPoA, and when I try to connect with the Actiontec modem I get a IP, etc, but I can't load any pages. The status lights all show green/connected.
Is there something else I'm doing wrong? |

Is there anything I can do to get this to work? Eh? AT&T Bellsouth DSL? Why is this post in AT&T West? Shouldn't this be in AT&T Southeast? All my effort to discuss VPI/VCI was based on the old Pacific Bell part of the old SBC region. I am pretty sure that BellSouth uses a different VPI/VCI pair than Verizon.

Thought so. Also, in AT&T West, everything that I have set up is PPPoE, not PPPoA. |

8/35 vpi/vci, username with @bellsouth.net and password should get you connected.

| reply to janus zeal I bought one of these from CompUSA for my FastAccess DSL and it works great. The UI isnt the best or most feature filled but I can saturate the connection with multiple torrents and it holds up very well FWIW.
They claim to be ADSL2/ADSL2+ "with a software update" but I never found such an update. -- Am Heimcomputer sitz' ich hier, und programmier' die Zukunft mir |

@rr.com | reply to NormanS Sorry about posting in the wrong area, I was very tired and frustrated when I created this thread.
I've figured it out now though, thank you. |

| ArtisRich, have you configured your modem as split pair suggested? If you have and are still having a hard time getting connected you might want to create a new topic and include a few more details about your equipment, configuration, and the trouble you are having. |
