They told me that starting with NIS 2008, one can't upgrade from NIS 2007 to NIS 2008 for free. He said I would have to either continue to use NIS 2007 until the subscription runs out or lose the money on NIS 2007 and upgrade to NIS 2008 for the going rate. I found this out through chat. I'm going to try calling them to confirm this. Anyone else know about this? Thanks. BK

bcruze join:2006-03-03 USA ·Windstream	i've been on so many service calls where people complain how slow their computer runs. guess what the first thing i look for?? symantec products. they use more system resources than most other products, and it still misses alot of virus/trojans. norton= Teh suCkAge jmi(just my opinion)

Venkat @net.in	reply to bk9410 You can upgrade your Norton 2006 or 2007 product to 2008 absolutely free of cost. The only criteria is that you need to have an active subscription.

Unease @veritas.com	That's correct. However, the other criteria is that you can upgrade only to the product type that you have installed. For example: NAV 07 to NAV 08 and NIS 07 to NIS 08.

If you ever try this with 2005 and older versions of Norton products, you will need to purchase the upgrade. Here is an example. NIS 2006 or NIS 2007 upgrade to NIS 2008 is free of cost. NIS 2005 or NIS 2004 upgrade is not free of cost and you need to purchase an upgrade.
