| [Sci-Fi] Torchwood.. anyone watching? I have been seeing BBC Americ ads for this show so I tuened in.
Before Torchwood they had a Doctor Who from 2006. The werewolf show. Queen Victoria was standing outside a mansion that had Torchwood on it, which I think was the start of it.
Then Torchwood ep.1 was reaired. Was Harkness the guy that went with Doc who from the '40's to modern times?

Yes, Harkness helped the Doctor fight the Daleks and was killed, but Rose brought him back to life using the matrix from the TARDIS. Thats why he can not be killed.

Like the subtle ties back to Dr. Who, as well as the last Dr. Who episode that was broadcast on Sci-Fi featuring Jack Harkness...nice cross-over between the two shows I think! | |

But then again I hate to say this:
How many times have you watched a show where they have a gal that is not afraid to pick up a gun and kill someone. But then the next moment, is totaly clueless as to how to escape danger?

| Finally got to see my first episode of “Torchwood” on “BBC America”. The episode in question was “Random Shoes”. Perhaps not the best episode to start with since the team didn’t make much of an appearance in the show.
I also have the “Torchwood” episode “Out of Time” recorded but I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. I expect this ep will be better.
I setup my MCE PC to record all “Torchwood” showings on BBCA so I can catch-up soon. I may not bother with the “Torchwood” DVD release if I can see everything on BBCA but the DVD set would probably be better for getting started right from episode one. | |

| Re: [Sci-Fi] Torchwood.. anyone watching? Any word on whether they're doing Declassified this season? It took me only about 35 minutes to get Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (bloody Torchwood), but I don't see any hits for declassified. Only hits on Google are from season 1.
Looks like Amazon and Best Buy are going to have season 1 for about $55 on Tuesday. I could go with no sales tax from Amazon, but I have a $25 gift card for BB, hardly ever shop there, and there's one right on the way home from work so I'll probably stop there and pick it up for about #30 out of pocket. | |

| Well, I don’t want to offend anyone either but I see such scenes as gratuitous and therefore add little or nothing to the storyline IMO.
Having said that, its still seems like a relatively small part of the show and I’m not particularly offended. I’m still new to the show having just jumped in on the last few episodes of season one and the beginning of season two so I’m prepared to give them plenty of leeway.
Depending on how prevalent it is throughout the show, I suspect that this particular element may keep it from expanding into other markets. For example, we may never see it on SciFi or if we do such brief graphic scenes will likely be edited out.
I still say that they have done some character tweaking with “Jack” because besides the advances he made toward “Rose”, in his last appearance on Dr Who he made advances toward a certain green female alien who liked to say “tho” allot. And yet his female coworkers at Torchwood go un-debauched. | |

| Actually, considering how bitterly I protested the hatchet job of editing the Scif channel inflicted on “Dr Who” its pretty amusing that I might find an uncut or less edited version of “Torchwood” to have elements that I might not care to see,….
The irony is not lost on me,….
Seriously though, I can accept Torchwood as it is. Its someone’s artistic vision and very entertaining for the most part. I also don’t much care for censorship in principle. | |

Well, I understand what you’re talking about but it really is a fine line if you think about it and a slippery slope. Once you start deciding what people can view / consume for them its hard to know when to stop.
