I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing.
Unlike many people, Bob has left a wonderful legacy to the family and to members of this team. Your title "gone but not forgotten" is certainly appropriate.
My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to you and to all the family members.
We were all blessed to know him. |

| reply to stillrunnin This is terrible news. I haven't been on DSLR for the last couple of weeks because of other duties. When I was last active you posted that hospice had stepped in. I come back to find this news. My prayers and condolences are with you and your family. These things are never easy and the loss of loved ones is a pain that never goes away. |

| reply to stillrunnin Bob was, no, Bob IS a fighter.
In times of strife, be it wars or whatever, total strangers can and do develop bonds that are no different than those found in families. Total strangers bond and become as brothers and sisters. Bob became my brother not all that long ago.
During my first battle with this insidious disease, Bob was there. Bob was there sending Mojo to me throughout that battle. Bob was there on the phone on many occasions when I needed someone to talk to, someone who knew what I was facing. Bob was and still is my brother in the war which is yet to be won. Bob was and still is a warrior in every sense of the work. Bob fought the battle and unfortunately for all of us he was not successful, but in reality, he was. Though he is no longer with us physically, he will remain in our thoughts and hearts for time eternal.
Bob not only fought his battle personally. He fought it with unselfish dedication to Team Discovery. He gave his time and computer along side all of us in hope of finding a cure. Today we have no idea if maybe, just maybe, one of the work units that he returned just might have a piece of the puzzle we are all striving to complete. I like to think that he indeed did provide a piece of it. Matter of fact, not a sole alive can convince me that he did not.
Bob gave, and gave, and gave, asking for nothing in return. Not once did I hear the words "Why me" purse his lips. He was too strong to allow that to happen. Bob never gave up, fighting to the very bitter end with the hope that he would beat the monster that was ravaging within him. Bob was and will remain forever a part of Team Discovery. I personally, and I know that many of you, will miss his postings, the cheerful greetings and frequent banter. Not only did he help me during my battle, I know beyond doubt that he help many many of you, his teammates with setting up the programs and solving difficulties with them. That help will live on as our computers continue to work to find the rest of the pieces of the puzzle.
To you, his family, I can only offer my sincerest condolences. Remember the good times and the love you all shared with him. As I do, you know he did not go without a fight. With a touch of luck perhaps that fight will help someone else. You all shall remain in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that your grief be as brief as is humanly possible, and that your remembrance of all that Bob was eternal.
No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever. - Francois Mauriac
Thank you brother Bob for leaving your mark on mine. That mark will remain a part of me until we meet again. |
