Your Tom Waits kid won a Best of Houston award from the Houston Press yesterday for the Best New Song About Houston.

| Strangely, it's one of my least favorite songs of his. Thanks for the link though, the obsessive types on the Tom Waits forum will love it
Maybe I should have referred to you as the Honorable Mr. Hartsbeam? |

| The link is right, though. I'm not sure what street he's describing but its not Fannin. The covers of it seem pretty bad, but I didn't find a Tom Waits original on Youtube. Maybe I'll check Usenet.

| There is a song by Leadbelly called Fannin Street also... there's a bunch of covers of that floating around. Doubt you'd find a Waits version anywhere, more likely to see the John Hammond cover. It's kind of an obscure track.
I feel like it would be mean to tell them that it's not a new song, he wrote it 6-7 years or so. Maybe it should be disqualified. |
