At&t filter???

at&t says they will filter me? thats crazy. i heard this and immediately signed up for roadrunner. Im not saying you all should switch as well, but if you let them filter you they will just get worse controlling your every action online (aka. Big Brother!!). Please spread the word, the article is on the broadband report front page as of 2:10pm Oct.4 ,2007.

Personally I doubt they will be able to achieve this, but Im not paying a evil company that will spy on me.

No, we don't. We just wanna spread the word about how wrong and evil it is to monitor someone like that.

So far it is all talk, and pretty vague talk at that. I don't see a point it switching to a different ISP, at least till I know enough detail to be able to tell whether the alternative is any better.

It's interesting that a while back SBC refused to give up customer info without a court order during the music industries big filesharing crack down.

Actually, what I think they were saying is that you need line filters to work with DSL. See, DSL works on frequencies on the voice line that the human voice doesn't use. Filters prevent any harmonics from encroaching on the DSL bandwidth.

I'm glad AT&T provides these filters for free, as they're somewhat expensive if you try to go to Radioshack and purchase them.

Don't blame the technology.

Re: At&t filter???

Thanks for that helpful link, ps56k. I really didn't see that story last week. It's a shame that what could have been a legitimate topic for discussion, based on the original article, was brought up by an anonymous person posing as a trolling name from Time Warner, who posted again later as a different name as an attempt to agree with himself.

I'm locking this thread and invite any legitimate discussion to »Discussion of possible packet filtering .
