There are lots of things that I do on a level that the pros or masters do so much better, photography among the rest. As you've seen in the responses above, even those levels are contestable, as many differ on the superiority of the cited works.
For me, photography is something I enjoy that has the added benefit of revealing and at least partially capturing the beautiful, notorious, precious, memorable and the hidden treasures in common things.
Although I try to discover, learn and improve on what I do, achieving professional or superior status is secondary to enjoying my hobbies and avocations. Photography sharpens my sense of awareness of my surroundings, helps me to see the undiscovered, to view people and things in different ways and to connect with others of similar interests. These are sufficient rewards for me.
