Use a number of them
Can add one that has its uses for me, not supported anymore, but BHODemon is still useful to see what Browser Helper Objects are attached to my browser and I can deal with them from its GUI if necessary

Combo of things as I believe in layered protection

Mostly, SpywareBlaster & Spybot.

Great job on the poll, blackdragon1 See Profile!

Great Poll blackdragon1!

No resident AS here, but I have a slew of on demand scanners - odd hobby.

Good job on the poll, blackdragon1 See Profile.

I use the term 'use' loosely, since I'm rarely in Windows anymore, but I have A-squared, AVG Anti-Spyware, and Spybot installed for on-demand scans if needed. Nothing running resident except for WinPatrol. I rely more on SpywareBlaster and the Immunize feature of Spybot, along with Firefox with NoScript. I can't decide if IESpyAd is still worth having, but I have not removed those entries as of yet.

But 99.5% of the time, spyware is no factor at all.

Re: [POLL] Spyware Removers & Prevention - 2008 Member Choice

I was glad to see someone mention Firefox with "NoScript". I think it's great protection, especially against some of the 'Zero-Day' exploits that pop up.

As far as the other things I use, it's Spybot S&D (with Tea Timer running), and Spyware Blaster running resident, AdAware SE once every month (or so..), and HijackThis regularly, especially after new installations.

Great poll! Sorry I haven't been around to participate lately. I'll try to focus more of my attention back here. This web site is such a great resource.

I use a number of them. Have Norton 360 on a couple of machines which also has an antispyware function Works pretty well. Also non obtrusive

Great poll! I've pared down considerably on the software I use. Currently I have BoClean, Spywareblaster and the occasional scan with Spybot S&D.

Re: [POLL] Spyware Removers & Prevention - 2008 Member Choice

Six computers (5 WinXP, 1 Vista) and no two have the exact configuration.

Products used on all six computers:
•Spybot Search & Destroy
•Spywareblaster
•IE-Spyad
•BOClean

Products used on select computers:
•Windows Defender (Vista, with an advanced membership in Microsoft SpyNet)
•Spy Sweeper (Vista)
•MVPS Hosts File (Vista)
•SpywareGuard (XP x 2)
•Ad-Aware SE (XP x 2)

Product used on select computers but not listed in the poll:
•Zone Alarm Pro's Anti-Spyware (XP x 3)

Nothing is ever found during scans with Spybot S & D, Ad-Aware SE, Windows Defender, or Zone Alarm Pro.

Thank you for the poll, blackdragon1 See Profile.

SuperAntiSpyware is my main one, with Spybot as backup. neither has real time crap running, mainly because I very seldom use IE.

None of these products ever detects anything more than the usual cookies.
