| This is elementary, but I have to ask -- do you know that SE's mail server requires outgoing authentication? I.e., you have to supply a password. I use Netscape 7 & IMAP to get mail, and when I send mail, I get a pop-up for me to supply my password. Do you get that? Have you tried any other clients? Thunderbird, Outlook Express (my wife uses, with Pop3)...?
Last, how about SE support? Any contact? If so, what do they say?
I have never had any real problem with SE's mail server; sometimes I get a disconnected message, but I'm always able to get back. Perhaps it just is too busy sometimes.

| David, i just recived this advise from Speakeasy.net: "Try using port 587 instead of 25, and turn on SMTP authentication. That may allow you to get access if for some reason port 25 is not getting through." I did not try yet but i will and update this post. |

OUTGOING SERVER REQUIRES AUTHENTICATION
and if you are off the speakeasy network, THEN change to port 587 (example, you are remote, on a comcast connection, comcast BLOCKS port 25) |

| I understand how it works... And good tip regarding comcast and other ISP's block on port 25... let's say on the email side i'm good as i have an alternative outgoing server, but i will still have to figure how to set my XEROX M25i network printer on "scan to email". |

Set up a second, dummy email account (yourfax@speakeasy.net) and have it use that email address/password if you are emailing yourself with it (sending email as joe@isp.com to joe@isp.com isn't a suggested method)
