| reply to Indy Sabre Re: [Free] Ashampoo Burning Studio 2008
said by Indy Sabre :Thanks........just installed on a second laptop that didn't already have 6.5 free. Kind of surprised they left out the burn DVD video stuff though. Still looks good for burning data or music though. That's easy enough to get around though. Just render the DVD to the HD and then burn a DataDVD of the files. |

Does Ashampoo Burning Studio have this same option? Is this what you're looking for? BTW, I like the old versions of Easy CD Creator too. Thanks Steely. That's what I was looking for. Oleg2003.....Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, I have Easy CD Creator 5 Basic, so I can't upgrade. From the looks of things, I'm going to stay with Easy CD Creator for now. Look here for the update to Basic: »www.roxio.com/enu/support/ecdc/s···tes.html

| reply to Steely I'm using an ancient Easy CD Creator 5 Basic. I mainly do data backups, so I don't need anything fancy. But I have been thinking it might be time to get something newer. The one thing I like about Easy CD Creator is, that it allows me to just drag and drop a file or folder to be burned to a backup CD. Does Ashampoo Burning Studio have this same option? I really don't want to install it and then uninstall it if I don't like it. Just getting lazy I guess. |

This download offer expires 08/11/2007. The publisher reserves the right to stop this offer at anytime without notice. I wouldn't wait too long. If they get too many freebie registration requests they may pull the plug early. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

| reply to flawlessly said by flawlessly :Would the download file expire? or I have to install before the offer deadline? any keys require to work? When you run the installation program it prompts you to register with Ashampoo. The reg key you need to fully unlock the program is sent to the e-mail address you provide. I'd do it before November 8th just to be on the safe side. You can always uninstall it. Just hold on to the reg key in case you want to reinstall later or on another machine. |

Doubt there's much of a solution but it'd be nice if anyone had any ideas. Thanks again for the heads up! There's more to your slow loading than just Vista. (no idea what though, sorry) Because of your posts I tried timing the start-up and it's fully up and running in 4.07 seconds with Vista Ultimate on my machine |

said by howie :said by takeahike : I know all the ABS programs go through the "enumerating drives" when opening. Is that where you notice the slowdown? None of the versions open instantly for me in XP or Vista, taking about 7 seconds in either OS. (3.3Ghz Processor, 2GB of RAM). Ok, I timed it, with the new version, 2008. And I timed it with a 'second' load so theoretically it should be a little faster. In XP I don't even see that 'enumerating drives' and it takes four (that's right four) seconds from the time I click on the desktop icon until I get the screen where I have to choose what I want to do. With Vista, it just sits there on that 'enumerating drives' seemingly forever and takes 32 (that's right 32) seconds to get to the screen to choose what to do. The machine is an Athlon XP 3000+ with 2 Gigs RAM. Vista drive a 500 Gig parallel WD, pretty sure with a 16 meg buffer, and the XP drive is a 250 Gig parallel WD with only an 8 meg buffer. I guess I should note that this problem seems peculiar to ABS--I really don't have this problem otherwise in Vista. I will say that in general Vista is a little slower, though not excessively so. |

Actually i have noticed that on my Vista laptop this loads much faster than it does on my Win XP Pro desktop on the laptop it pops up almost instantly 2-5 second delay on the desktop it is a good 10-15 second delay |

| reply to Ryno said by Ryno :Thanks. Personally I've had no issues with Ashampoo products. I don't know why so many people don't like them. I think a lot of people around here DO like Ashampoo products, especially Burning Studio.....and even more especially when it's FREE! |
