Please see this thread for more info: »Is there an artist in the house: Shooting for a Cause
This is a project being put together by the DI forum. All the proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, so your work would be for a very good cause. -- 4 cams, 5 cats, 7 days a week.=^..^= My Photo Gallery |

1 edit | reply to tiggerstales I'll have to check this one out. Thanks, tt.
Upon reflection, I'll have to wait and see what type of subject matter is put up, as I haven't a clue. |

CCat Purrplexity Premium join:2005-12-06 Wonderland | Thats why I just posted a quickie. See what direction they're heading. |
|
Jason Levine Premium join:2001-07-13 USA | reply to CCat I'm not sure about that one. The realistic camera combined with the cartoon-y kids just strikes me as odd. Thanks for the attempt though. Maybe another type of photo in the viewfinder? |

| Like I said it was a quickie just to get the basic idea across. As far as the pic in the viewfinder anything can be put in there. The cartoon kids happened to be the first one I came across. -- Somewhere In Texas Theres A Village Missing An Idiot!

I'm looking through my copy of the Open Clip Art Library as well, it's huge though...over 8,500 images, mostly .SVG.

| reply to Jason Levine said by Jason Levine :Anyone else have any logo ideas? I would be happy to devote a few hours to this project. However, are you looking for a logo for the web site or some simple buttons to link to the web site? I'm a bit unsure after reading the other thread. For some standard button/banner sizes, take a look at the following URL:

| reply to JohnQPublic We're looking for a little of both. We would like a logo that we could use for this and any future Shooting For A Cause project. In addition, we would like a web button that people could put on their websites to advertise the calendars.
We should probably start with the logo itself. That should be print-worthy as I plan on putting it on the calendars. This also means it should probably have a white background. (Or, at least, not stick out like a sore thumb on a white background.) I'm not sure as to the size. Probably something that can be easily read in print, yet can also scale down.
As for the web button, MacroMan posted this handy list of sizes in the other thread: »banner-sizes.kahi.cz/ I think the Square Button, Micro Button, Button 1, and Button 2 sizes look best. If pressed to choose 2, I would choose Micro Button and Button 2.
Does that narrow things down a bit? |

No point in putting the cart (buttons) before the horse (web site/logo).
I vaguely remember seeing your intention to use CaféPress. Is that correct? If so, they generally recommend transparent PNG for uploading purposes. I think they also have standard templates to work with.
But as for your logo and web site, what sort of colors and/or theme are you thinking about? If there is a thread someone else here on DSL Reports about Shooting for a Cause to give us a feel, that would be great too. Thanks. |

| Yes, we're going to work with CafePress. I'm open to color schemes. The current Shooting For A Cause website (»www.shootingforacause.com/) has a black background, but that's easily changed. The main idea that I had in mind was having the lens of the camera work as one of the o's in "Shooting".

I did something like that eons ago for a friend of tmpchaos (I think it was) and it turned out really well I think. I think I remember getting my premium membership here donated to me by a guy named KingOfPants as a result of that work. I'll have to dig through the archives to see if I can find it. |

Fourboxers found the thread I was referring to. The lens looks a little like a stereo speaker, but I built that one from scratch using nothing more than the circle tool in Photoshop. I'm sure I could cobble together something a little more refined today. I was a Photoshop newbie.
