| Re: A logo request, for anyone who might be interested... I thought about the camera lens for one of the "o", but I think it would be more of a distraction and difficult to read next to the other one. If there was an "o" by itself, I think it would've fit in.
So, I threw in a filmstrip. I'm not exactly thrilled with it, but maybe it'll give you something to start with.

| Re: A logo request, for anyone who might be interested... Like I said it was a quickie just to get the basic idea across. As far as the pic in the viewfinder anything can be put in there. However, are you looking for a logo for the web site or some simple buttons to link to the web site? I'm a bit unsure after reading the other thread. For some standard button/banner sizes, take a look at the following URL:

| We're looking for a little of both. We would like a logo that we could use for this and any future Shooting For A Cause project. In addition, we would like a web button that people could put on their websites to advertise the calendars.
We should probably start with the logo itself. That should be print-worthy as I plan on putting it on the calendars. This also means it should probably have a white background. (Or, at least, not stick out like a sore thumb on a white background.) I'm not sure as to the size. Probably something that can be easily read in print, yet can also scale down.
As for the web button, MacroMan posted this handy list of sizes in the other thread: »banner-sizes.kahi.cz/ I think the Square Button, Micro Button, Button 1, and Button 2 sizes look best. If pressed to choose 2, I would choose Micro Button and Button 2.
Does that narrow things down a bit?

No point in putting the cart (buttons) before the horse (web site/logo).
I vaguely remember seeing your intention to use CaféPress. Is that correct? If so, they generally recommend transparent PNG for uploading purposes. I think they also have standard templates to work with.
But as for your logo and web site, what sort of colors and/or theme are you thinking about? If there is a thread someone else here on DSL Reports about Shooting for a Cause to give us a feel, that would be great too. Thanks.

| Re: A logo request, for anyone who might be interested... Yes, we're going to work with CafePress. I'm open to color schemes. The current Shooting For A Cause website (»www.shootingforacause.com/) has a black background, but that's easily changed. The main idea that I had in mind was having the lens of the camera work as one of the o's in "Shooting".
You could also post in this thread to get some opinions from other folks: »Shooting For A Cause: The Categories and some updates

I did something like that eons ago for a friend of tmpchaos (I think it was) and it turned out really well I think. I think I remember getting my premium membership here donated to me by a guy named KingOfPants as a result of that work. I'll have to dig through the archives to see if I can find it.

| said by Jason Levine :The main idea that I had in mind was having the lens of the camera work as one of the o's in "Shooting". Ding dong. Fourboxers found the thread I was referring to. The lens looks a little like a stereo speaker, but I built that one from scratch using nothing more than the circle tool in Photoshop. I'm sure I could cobble together something a little more refined today. I was a Photoshop newbie.

Just have it be the side view of the camera with the "Shooting For A Cause" banner coming out of it. Maybe even find a way to work in some more color.

1 edit | Re: A logo request, for anyone who might be interested... Sure, no problem.
I'd done darker ones based on the website theme as it is. I can add color pretty easy as most of these were formerly colored.
Oh, here's a logo-esque one I just thought up.
I wish I could make better text-on-a-path stuff, but having PS7..it's about impossible. Somewhere I have Extensis Photographics, but it isn't installed at the moment.
Odd, this is a .PNG, but the transparency isn't showing unless you view the full size image..

| Wow, there have been some amazing contributions to this this request. Especially considering the near lack of direction we were initially able to provide. I love both johnqpublic's filmstrip along with caffeinator's camera. Have we made a final decision on this yet. Any chance to open it up to a quick poll over at the DI forum since it's going to continue to represent this project. -- I am a contradiction in terms. Good luck. | |

1 edit | caffeinator,
Can you make that logo say "Shooting For A Cause" and then say "Kalendars For Kids" in some animated fashion? Also, can it be resized to 468x60 and 234x60 , and 90 pixels tall (as narrow as possible)?
Thanks.
EDIT: Forget that last one. Let's just stick with the two standard sizes.
