In Windows I much prefer ExplorerXP - that's saved me a LOT of time doing bulk editing. In Linux I use whatever comes with the distro, most often Konqueror or Nautilus.

Great poll - I voted Total Commander, been using for many years.

XYplorer review starts at 1:06:00 min and runs for 4 minutes
The author release new version on an almost daily basis with some very innovative new features not seen on some of the other similar tools. |

Windows explorer when in Windows and Thunar when in Linux. Can't really see any reason to use something different in either?

I've always used Windows Explorer, but with Vista's version of Explorer being more diabolical (things just seem to be buried deeper in it), would a third-party file manager be a better choice?

A couple days ago it would have definitely been Windows Explorer. Now, my favorite choice is the Finder, which was massively improved in its latest revision (and boy, did it need it!).
Followed by:
2nd - Windows Explorer
3rd - Nautilus (Ubuntu 7.10)
