@swbell.net | Max Speed at 9655 feet
I was thinking of switching to Speakeasy. What is the maximum speed I can get a 9655 feet from the CO? |

| No one can really tell you - it depends on too many thing s like line quality and if ADSL2 can be afforded or available in your area.
If the copper lines are in good shape then you *should* be able to get at least 80% of your rated speed. I get 80-85% (sometimes as much as 90%) of my rated speed at just over 12K feet. |

| reply to FattyAcid I meant what was the theoretical/best case that ADSL and ADSL2 can provide that intersect with the service offerings of Speakeasy given a distance of 9655 feet from the CO?
I realize this requires some speculation--I assume that regardless of the quality of the line, the upper limit is 8 Mbps/1Mbps--10 Mbps or higher is just not do-able given that distance.
At 9655 feet from the CO, I currently get 1 CRC error an hour on BellSouth FastAccess DSL 1.5 Mbps/256 Kbps. |

| reply to FattyAcid Like CylonRed said it can vary based on many different factors. But as an example, I'm at 9435 feet out of a Verizon CO in Lynnwood, WA. and have 6.0/768 package. I sync at 6/768 and my last speed test was 5178/660. I have not had the line tested for ADSL2. Never had a problem with speeds or packet loss. |
